Single Incision Sleeve

Recommended Posts

I've briefly read up on the single incision sleeve, and I'm very interested in it. I just wonder why not many surgeons in Mexico are performing this type of surgery yet? Well, even here in the U.S there aren't many surgeons using this method yet. A few people have mentioned that Dr. Kelly does it, but I didn't see any info on his website about it. Is anyone else interested in this procedure?

I'm actually getting the sleeve done via single incision in Chicago on August 20th. My doctor offered it to me, and I found out he has actually taught the other surgeon he practices with. I've heard slightly less recovery time and potentially less pain with this, so I'm excited about it.

I would not think there's a whole lot of room to move in there.

It is known as the spider method. The reason it hasn't been widely adopted yet is because it is still relatively new and does carry a slightly higher risk for complication.

I had the single incision sleeve gastrectomy my Dr. Alan Saber at University Hospital in Cleveland Ohio. It was the best experience I could have ever had! The recovery time for me was about a week and the best part is you can't even tell I had surgery!

Oh! Didn't notice you were Chicago too! :) I'm having my surgery done at St. Joseph's in the Lakeview area with Dr. Frederik Tiesenga. He also works with Dr. Lutfi and they both offer single incision as an option with the sleeve.

What was the cost difference with single incision/sleeve vs traditional method?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
