Thanks so much for sharing your story! I have my first appt. on Wednesday, then I start the 3 months of pre-surgery diet. I need to stop kicking myself for not doing this sooner but I am so excited I could scream! Your pics blew me away!

OMG we do have similar faces! Good luck with your first appointment. You are lucky that you only have to do three months instead of six. My insurance company switched to three months in May, but by then I had already completed my 6. Don't kick yourself for not doing this sooner...it's not worth thinking about the past, just living in the present and moving forward to a healthier you! (although, I do still wish I had done this two years ago when I first had thought about it...LOL)

How much exercising were you able to do in the first two months?

I am embarassed to say that I have not really exercised much. I walk about 30 minutes a day maybe about three days a week. The kids go back to school next week, so a friend and I are going to try Zumba. I also have an eliptical machine in my that has been sitting in my room mocking me. It's time to get busy on the exercise front. Now that I have more energy, there's really no reason not to do it. I just need to plan it into my day.

But think of how much more it will help now that you still want to lose more. It will be like kicking in another gear!

You are so right about that. I actually can't wait to try the Zumba class. I think I will really like it. I need to find things to trick me into thinking I am having fun and not just exercising. When I lose some more weight, I want to try skulling on the river a few miles from my house. The rowing club gives free lessons. I am not ready to try to squeeze my butt into one of those little seats quite yet, but I am thinking in a few more months I should be more comfortable and won't sink the boat.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
