Hi. I'm scheduled for the sleeve on the 14th of august. Just wondering if anyone on here was worried about the anesthesia or blod clots after surgery.

I think your concerns are valid and common. I always get sick from anesthesia and so I kind of expected it with my sleeve surgery (and I threw up for almost an entire day after I had my sleeve). It was awful! Blood clots are scary too which is why you have to get up and out of that bed to walk around. I am so happy with the sleeve and a few months from now, you will not even be thinking about all the what ifs. Good luck to you.

Thanks for replying. I'm not to nervous about going under it's the coming back. And I had surgery before and the surgeon said nothing about clots. No socks or anything about preventing them.

After the surgery, they did put compression things on my legs to prevent the clots. I had to take them on and off when I wanted to get up and walk. The first day I needed help getting them on and off, but after that I was able to do it myself. I am sure the hospital you will be at will have them too.

Im six months in! It was one of the best desicion i ever made!!! Every dr is different. My doctor put the air compressors on my leg and gave me anti nausea medication. Its only given if the anesthesia make you vomit. The worst waa drinking a clear liquid, that you drink when you go for xrays to make sure, that there are no leaks. But in the end, its all worth it!!!! Best wishes to All who are on their way to getting their sleeve :)

Thanks. I deal with anesthesia pretty well. Just a million questions I want the answer too. Lol. I just want to be able to live a normal life afterwards, I love hunting and fishing and anything outdoors and want to be able to continue without hesitations.

I was very nervous about throwing up after surgery. I have had general anesthesia several times before and I've gotten sick every time. I expressed my concern to my surgeon and he told me to make sure I talked with the anesthesiologist. I did and this time I had no problem whatsoever. In my case, I had a very strong feeling what made me sick was the gas they give you once you're under to keep you sedated. I asked if he could do without the gas and he said YES. They also gave me one of those Patches to put behind my ear for motion sickness, on top of all the other anti-nausea medication they give before, during and after surgery. I didn't have even a second of nausea this time. I was so happy!

While it is important to be aware, educated and informed about the surgery and all possible problems...don't let the anxiety cripple you. Just do what the doctor and nursing staff tells you, and you'll be good!

I sure wish I had known about these options when I went in to surgery. I threw up for about 48 hours after surgery and now I suspect it was the anesthesia. Though at the time, I just thought I was slowly dying...

You will live a normal life, and you will enjoy life more because you will feel so much better doing those activities. You'll have to learn a whole new way of eating, and that may mean being more planful about taking healthy food with you when you go hunting and fishing....but to me that is normal. Eating junk food all the time, like I did before surgery, is not normal.

I worried about everything, wrote a will and goodbye letters to my family, just in case.

I didn't have any complications, and didn't give those letters to my family.

Complications happen, but the odds are in your favor!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
