Liquid vitamin or chewable?

Recommended Posts

My doc said to always take a chewable children's Vitamin every day, but I'm more interested in the GNC Women's Ultra Mega liquid Vitamin, which has almost the same characteristics as a prenatal. Is there any reason why chewable would be better? Anyone here take a liquid? I also want to take my Calcium supplement as a liquid.

Hi,

I have difficulty taking tablets of any kind, so I take a chewable Multivitamin I find I will remember to take them, whereas liquid i would have to stop and take rather than on the run. I can't see why you can't take a liquid supplement, but I'm not a Dr, maybe call you dr and ask...

I am taking the Flintstones, but I don't see why a liquid Vitamin wouldn't work just as well. I did try one, but couldn't tolerate the taste (yes, I admit, it was so awful it made me gag and came right back up).

I just wanted to apologize because I am blind and didn't see the other Vitamin thread...lol.

But thank you all so much for all of your help! It's so great to have friends who've been through this!

My nut approved a liquid Vitamin I found. I can't really stand the taste of it alone so when I make a Protein drink I put it in it.

The Flintstones taste good and they're a heck of a lot cheaper than the liquid version.

I took Flinstones for the first 6 weeks out of surgery, just because they were chewable and it felt like I was eating something! LOL I did switch to a Women's Vitamin & have never had a problem with swallowing pills. What's most important is that you take something; my doctor does not advise on keeping Flinstones as our long term Vitamin, but every dr is different.

I take the Centrum chewable vitamins (for Adults). I have tried the liquid Centrum, which is somewhat tolerable, but I prefer the chewable.< /p>

I was having a terrible time with my vitmains. I am a wimp when it comes to things tasting bad. I found some liquid vitamins that actually taste good. I mix it with orange juice. My husband takes it by itself. Go to

www.tyh.us for more information. I can tell a big difference when I take them. I ran out for a week and could really tell the difference in the way I felt. It cost more than your flintstone chewables but to me it is worth it.

I cant do the liquid- the smell gets me first then the Iron taste. Yuck.

Flintstone chewables for me. I even found a zinc wafer and a decent B12 this in efforts to minimize Hair loss as described on another thread.

For me, the answer is neither. When I was researching Vitamins I decided on powder that you mix with juice or other drink. From what I read the chewables are made with binders to try and preserve the b Vitamins. The liquids are mixed with a preservative that just isn't good for you. But the powder is just the ground vitamins. The brand I like best is All One that I order online. I like the senior formula because it has ginko and other things I think are healthy. It's not bad at all mixed with juice or milk. I can actually feel the difference on days I take it vs. days I forget.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
