Hello all I'm just about a year out from my sleeve and down 110 lbs but stalled for some time now and need a jump start if anyone has any ideas it will be greatly appreciated. Dr Hoffman was a miracle and I has changed my life

Do you ever come to the support group at BGH? I find them very motivating when I go. It's nice to talk to people who are going through the same thing as you. The NP and RN that run the group are great and very supportive. They are the 3rd Wednesday of the month at 5 or 5:30 (I'm not sure which).

Good news!! I finally got my date to be sleeved! I'll be sleeved on April 14th!! Had my pre-op this morning at ECMC (that's one hell of a maze of a place). I'll have my pre-op class at Synergy next Wed & start my pre-op diet next Friday. SO excited - yet getting kind of nervous!

I have IHA and was going to try as well to get the shakes covered. I tried to look on IHA website, really didn't find anything except for weight loss prescriptions were not covered. It would be great to find out!

I've gone to the meetings the last 2 months. They are held the last Thursday of every month @ Synergy @ 6:30. We meet for about an hour or so. I really do like the meetings. Everyone is so supportive and willing to share their journey! If you can't make tomorrow - come next month! I mayyy be there. I'll be about 10 days post op then! :)

I personal did not like the taste of fusion drinks. I drink designer whey brands and champion whey and cost is not bad at all

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
