Is anyone having trouble drinking Water? All of a sudden I want to puke every time I drink it. I add sugar free Hawaiin punch to it and I can drink it that way.

A lot of people have a hard time with plain Water post op. I've had maybe 2 plain bottles of water since surgery. I have to add crystal light, Mio, etc in order to get it down. I really didn't like flavored water prior to surgery. I don't know if there is a medical reason why.

I am 5 days out and it seems to get harder each day. I have been trying different flavorings and it helps a ton.

I love ice Water, but found it very difficult to drink during the first week. I hate flavored water, but I found the only way I could drink water was by adding crystal lite. Also, remember that your broth, your Protein Shake, sugar free popsicles and all other full liquids during this stage count toward your fluid goals. The good news is I am back to loving my water. If I recall correctly, it had become much more palatable by week two.

Its the ph balance of plain Water.< /p>

For some reason, our new tummies don't like that ph balance. You can try different brands of bottled water, and see if that helps.

My surgeon said that Water likes to attract to things so it will bubble up in the top of the whole of your stomach and cause discomfort. He said if you out any kind of substance in the water it will keep it from doing that. That is why you can drink the flavored stuff. My surgeonade it clear that we should not just try water for the first 3 months. It surprises me so many people don't know that.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
