I have never had a Protein Shake. I began eating with Fage Greek yogurt, which has 23 grams of Protein per cup and also counts as a Fluid and I added other Proteins. My nutritionist said to get all proteins from food as soon as possible and to definitely be off all protein supplements by six months.

I had them through the first 3 months. When I was on all foods I pretty much cut them out.

I do crossfit on Saturdays so I still have a muscle milk or a Protein fruit smoothie.

I would not depend on Protein Shots for all my daily Protein, they are high in soy protein which isn't as good as whey protein. whey is the best for WLS patients.

Yes I have heard that those shots are not all they are cracked up to be...meaning sources of Protein our bodies can't process. I might be the only one but I like the rtd Isopure alpine punch drinks. They have 160 calories and 40g of protein. If you don't like the sweet just cut it with Water. Taste like crystal light. :)

I only plan on using whey Protein and I have Isopure. Some flavors are ok. They are so expensive though. I am on preop diet right now. I cannot wait for this phase to be over do I can have a variety of flavors.

I am 15 months out and still drink a Protein Drink every day for breakfast. I am one of those weird people who actually enjoy my Protein drink. Also, my stomach doesn't do well with solids first thing in the morning.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
