I know that everyone's body is different, but is there some way to guess how much a person has to lose to attain a different size?

I am 5'9", and I am currently 225 pounds. At my highest, I was 262. I am a size 20 now and have been for the last 25 pounds. I think I still have to lose another 10 or so before I am in an 18.

I gained most of my weight during pregnancies, and I really have no idea what weight I need to be at to be a certain size, or how much more I need to lose to be a certain size. I defnitely think you have to lose more weight to change a size the bigger you are.

Is there some chart somewhere or some website that you can put in your height and weight and it will spit out a size for you? I would love that! It would help me to have a tangible number goal, and my biggest goal right now is to be able to shop at regular stores. I would love to be a 14 or a 16, and I would like to know how much further I have to go before I can ditch Lane Bryant.

I don't think so. It will depend on your body type, etc. I know people who drop 20 pounds and drop a size or two, I've lost 38 and I finally bought a size smaller pair of pants.

Yep I do think it depends on your body type. I have been obese for most of my life, but my weight has been pretty well distrubted all over my body. I am currently 169 and a size 8-10 and I am 5'6". I started out at 297 and a tight size 24.

Congrats on your weight loss, new sizes are fun.

Hi Heidi,

I really don't have much to add, as I agree it depends so much on your height, build, etc.

However, I did want to comment that I love your signature with your two beautiful babies, that is so cool!

Thanks everyone. I agree. I was just hoping...you know. They have those virtual models, but nothing that can give you a guess as to what size you might be.

Thanks, Susan, for your compliment. I think it is and they are pretty cute too!

It takes me about 15 pounds to go down one size. I'm short (just under 5 feet), so I don't know if that applies to everyone or not. I was 227 on the day of surgery and wore 18/20 jeans (very tight). Now I wear 2/4 jeans at almost 100 pounds lighter.

I was able to get into a size 14 at around 200 lbs and I am 5'7 1/2''. Right now I am at 170 and am in mostly 10-12's with some occassional 8's. I was in 16's from 205-230 and started at an 18. Every person's body is different but I think you should be in a 14-16 by 200. I still need to lose 10 more lbs at least to be in a solid 8-10 instead of a 10-12. good luck to you.

I flucuate from 175-180 and I wear 12 bottoms and 14 tops. I started at 243 wearing 18-20 bottoms and 20-22 tops. I also started as 46dd now I am 40d. My top has always been bigger than my bottom.

Its impossible to guess - I have a girlfriend who's the same height and weight as I am and she's 2 sizes smaller than me! She has huge legs - no ankles, no knees, just tree trunk legs. That's where all her weight is. Mine is round my hips and lower tummy and I have boobs, she doesnt. So I can fit into an Australian 16 and she's an Australian 12.

It depends ENTIRELY on your body type. I have wide hips, no matter how skinny I get I'll still be a larger size than somebody who doesnt.

I find I go down a size every 20 lbs...I was 290 and a size 24 pre-op, and now I'm 235 and moving into a comfortable 18 (I'm 5'8").

I'm excited to lose the weight, but a part of me is going to miss shopping at Lane Bryant. I love their clothes! I always feel beautiful whenever I go in there and try stuff on...they make being a large woman a little easier!

Everyone seems to be about the same - I think it depends on the brand of clothes, too. If I buy my clothes at Catherine's they are more generous than if I go to Lane Bryant or other such stores.

I was 337 the day of my surgery on July 5th and I was pushing out of my 4X's. Now I'm 286 and I'm comfortably in 3X's, which translates to almost a 26. I just bought 26/28 pants and I'm hoping to comfortably wear them in another 10 lbs.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
