For Those Who Got To Eat Soft Foods Soon Out

Recommended Posts

MY CAPS WONT TURN OFF, SO BARE WITH ME.

I KNOW THE STAGES VARY BUT I WANTED TO KNOW A FEW THINGS. HOW MANY OF YOU STARTED SOFT OR REGULAR FOODS IN LESS THAN TWO WEEKS? I NOTICED ONE PERSON ON HERE THAT ATE SOFTS STRAIGHT FROM THE HOSPITAL.

DID IT AFFECT YOUR SLEEVE OR CAUSE ISSUES IN THE FUTURE, ASSUMING YOU ARE PAST THE HEALING STAGE.

According to my doctor, the "healing" phase takes 6 weeks and you should follow what your doctor and NUT has prescribed.

I am starting my 5th week and eating alot of different foods now so it is much easier to get the Protein in and have a variety.

Those first 3 or 4 weeks were brutal......glad that is behind me and looking forward to introducing other menu items again after 6 weeks.

Good luck!

Kiki Von Moonshine

as we always say, all dr.s and NUTS have different thoughts on things - especially how to follow a meal plan.

i have heard that some people go on solids within a few days after WLS, personally i can't understand that cuz are stomachs are so weak and fragile. But.....

when i came home from hospital my NUT told me to have Clear liquids only, broth, popsicles, Water - and Protein shakes (which i couldn't keep down for awhile)

i never had a mushy phase - went to soft food after 3 weeks - then solids

i don't "think" the sleeve is affected in any different way, damage etc. from foods your dr./NUT tells you eat

see you had WLS 7/30/12 - hope you are doing well - wishing you a speedy, good recovery

welcome to Sleeveland

My doc has one week of Clear Liquids, then 3 weeks of soft foods, then regular foods after that! Hope it helped

I have noticed on here & searching the net that each dr. Has their own preference on what their patient can have. My dr. Put me on liquids for 3wks then start adding soft foods, which is what I hv been trying. If i can tolerate it, he said it was fine.

My doc's plan has liquids, puree/mushies and soft Proteins as tolerated from the hospital on out. I think I was served scrambled eggs and yogurt in the hospital and did yogurts, puddings, boiled eggs and tuna in addition to the typical Protein Shakes, Soups and jellos those first couple of weeks (got tired of soups real fast!) The doc and his brother have been doing sleeves in their practice for around twenty years, so I figure that they know what it can handle. My wife was on the same program when she went through this several years ago though she progressed a little slower - just some of the variations between us all.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
