I hear during our weight loss stage to consume around 800 calories a day and no more than 40 carbs. My doc says 1500 calories and 80 carbs....so lost in this lol

Wow! 1500 calories is a lot. I'm 8 1/2 weeks our and there is no way I could consume that much. Also, at a support group I was at the other day, the leader (a doctor) was talking about averaging 1200 calories on maintenance. I would check again with your doctor.

My doc recommends 600-800 calories during weight loss stage and to shoot for 1200-1400 during maintenance & 70% of calories from Protein.< /p>

I wish I could eat 1200 calories. I've gotten up to 1000 a few times but generally I'm around 800-900. I just think 1200 would be so much healthier. And it might even help my poor distressed hair.< /p>

My nut told me at 8 months to be at 1200, my SUREGON told me 700-900 was good for the losing phase, so even in the same office there are disagreements. Lol. Im staying at 800 till I feel bad or get to goal.

Before surgery, 1500 cal/day would get me 5lbs/wk in weight loss. Now, I can't imagine being able to get that much in. I can't even take my liquid pain reliever without feeling full.

I ate 600-800 during my losing phase. Now I am in maintenance and I don't eat 1500--I average about 1300, and generally stay between 1200 and 1400. Unless you are exceptionally active and willing to accept slow loss, I would not eat 1500 a day if I were you.

Did you know that physician only get two hours of nutrition education in med school? My best friend, the MD, told me. I almost fell over.

I was struggling to get between 600 and 800 until about week 8 when I increased to 800 to 1000. This is on target with the surgeon and NUT recommendations for me. I can't see myself exceeding 1000 easily unless I go for unhealthy options. I was told to eat Protein first but to keep my diet as balanced as possible. I was not given a daily Protein goal but regularly hit about 60 to 70 grams a day.

I am not losing my hair (I have my hair stylist on high alert!) and my nails are still growing strong so I am feeling that what I am eating is working for me. I struggle with Fluid intake and my skin is dry so this is a work in progress for me.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
