I would not recommend TRUE "sweet tea." You don't want to get in a habit of drinking your calories, but tea sweetened with something non-caloric, sure go for it! Truvia and other stevia based sweeteners are the safest from what I can tell. Stay AWAY from agave. (You'd be better off with regular sugar!) But you're an adult, so obviously you can choose your own sweetener LOL ;)

MIO actually makes a sweet tea flavor which is pretty good! I know people are divided over MIO an wheather it's good for you but I think in moderation it's fine.

Please do not go to the dark side. Hate to sound discouraging but I want to warn you against letting back in old habits. You had surgery to lose weight, not to eat and drink junk in lower quanities. Have a friend who stopped losing due to drinking her calories. She questions why she isn't losing when all she has is protien shakes (she neglects to mention all of the drinks)

Sugar with loads of calories. Yikes. Find a reasonable substitute, Mio was a good suggestion. Try to find something that add nutritional value or liquid Vitamins with taste. You are eating / drinking to survive and lose weight right now. Once you hit goal, you can add in a few treats.

Best of luck and I hope your weight loss comes easy for you! Hugs.

I think this really depends on what you mean "by sweet tea"

To me sweet tea is 1 gallon of tea & 3/4cup of sugar. To other people in my family it's more like 1gallon of tea & 1/2lb of sugar.

Lightly sweetened tea probably won't hurt anything in moderation. However if "southern style" is your preference then you probably need the artificial sweeteners.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
