The stoma is opening from the pouch into the large part of your stomach, that is were the food passes through. And no you can not see it.

Hi all

Okay, I live in Edmonton and am the kind of person who when she makes-up her mind to have something done, she has it done. I can't wait 2 years!! The plane ride to Toronto is just brutal from Edmonton so I'm thinking of going to Victoria or Ladner. Does anyone have any experience in these 2 places? How long is the wait? Cost? Which Dr. did you like better? I'm excited to get my life back and keep up with my kids!

Hey,

I flew from Toronto to Vancouver a couple days after surgery. It wasn't very fun, but Toronto to Edmonton would have been much more bearable! Get a non-stop flight, maybe some better seats... no biggie! Don't write Ontario off just because of that! :)

But anyways, go through some of the older posts, there are prices and wait times in there somewhere. I can't remember which it was, but one of them was $13,500, I believe. Do a search for Woodhead or Leung ... that would help!

Yeah Lila, could you teach me how to do that? The band is sooo fickle. If I could only remember that when I am hungry. Hope you are doing well. When are you coming back? The weather here today was balmy 11 C. Life is good.

I flew from Toronto to Calgary 48 hours after my surgery, and it was only about 4 hours. I slept most of the way and was fine. This was after sitting in the airport for 3 hours as my flight was delayed.

Really it is not that bad.

Hello all my fellow Canadian bandsters!!

Well I am doing great. Yes still south! It is not warm at my home yet so I am not going back!"!!

Last time I weighed my self I was down to 164 lbs. I am able to eat more and enjoy my favorites. Not too many drinks cause then I can't eat or I PB.

My mom was very stunned when she saw me. That was nice but she is going around now saying Lila lost blah blah blah while she's been in Mexico.

I do have to go so I'll be in touch soon.

But all IS well and thanks for thinking of me.

I found the Protein Drink I purchased was gross. So I went to the pharmeusuitical (sp?) department and purchased a complete Meal Replacement called "Glucerna". I purchased the chocolate and it is yummie. It is 250 calories and has all the nutrients for one meal. Just a reminder though, I would stick to the "clear fluids" as ordered, then "full fluids". Glucerna is made specifically for diabetics. Might be worth a try rather than mixing powdered drink. Doddie

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
