It's Been Two Weeks...no Weight Loss

Recommended Posts

Hey guys is it normal not to have any weight loss for two weeks? I'm 40 days out...lost 28 lbs and doing about 700-800 cal a day with 81-106 grams of Protein ( per the nut's request). The only thing is that I havn't done the walking/working out hardly at all ( my bad!). But I would think that I would lose something. The nut doesn't seem too bothered by it...but ya know how we can get if nothing comes off....So words of wisdom from everyone....Thanks so much.

Yup, it's so normal that it happens to most people. Usually around the 3-4 week mark. It's called a "stall" and they've been known to last anywhere from 1week to 4months+. The good news is that the earlier stalls typically dont last more than 3weeks. Not saying they can't. But they usually don't. You can expect this to happen periodically through your journey.

From everything I have read...it seems pretty normal to me. I had my surgery on July 2nd and it seems stalls are inevitable. Just try to start exercising and keep up with your Protein and things should be just fine!

At 4 weeks I didn't lose a thing. Then at 5 weeks I gained 3 lbs. I was upset. But I kept following the rules and it started coming off again. I am at almost three mths now and doing awesome!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
