Mark A Few More Off The List!

Recommended Posts

Went and had my head shrunk yesterday. And the psychologist said I'm not too crazy for surgery!! Yay!

Okay not quite like that but she told me I'm a great candidate for surgery!!

I meet with a different hypnotist to***ht to quit smoking. He is a former smoker, so he understands more about mental cravings vs. physical cravings. He has spent over 10 years developing his program, so I feel confident that I will soon be smoke free!!

Blood test in the morning. Explaining different reactions to when I go too long without food, ect PCP and psychologist (she specializes in bariatric patients) both worry about pre-diabetes.

But three steps checked off this week. WOO HOO!! Oh and my fiance said he is not going to support my Dr Pepper addiction. So he isn't buying me soda any more.

Getting requirements done so my PCP will clear me for surgery.

It feels good to get that checklist worked through. Good luck!!

Had to laugh at being cut off on your DP fix. In the same boat - planned to quit pepsi this week and found an unopened 12-pack!!! So... Will retry quitting next week, lol!

My cozy little land of denial has been taken away.

:-(

Got my blood test results. A1C levels put me at beginning stages of pre diabetic. HDL levels are really low. LDL levels are above normal and so are triglyceride levels.

Heart desiease, morbid obesity, and diabetes are what killed my grandma at 62. I'm following in her path.

Hi, freak out time now? I think so....

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
