Mz_Elle 23 Posted August 3, 2012 Since you're probably burning fat versus carbs, you're probably experiencing the infamous ketosis stench that some ppl on low carb diets have noted. If you're very concerned I'd check with your doctor. I've not had that experience yet. But I've been told (by friends not my doctor or nutritionist) that some ppl notice a change in their breath when they switch to fat as their energy source. I've been told chewing on fresh parsley or ginger helps. 1 SleeveNoob reacted to this

JTmoas 19 Posted August 3, 2012 I don't get foam but I can say by dinner time I have the most horrible taste in my mouth and nothing I eat or drink tastes good. I am almost a month out too and I am on PPI. I guess it is a good thing meaning that we are burning fat but sure makes it hard to eat dinner!!
Rootman 1,101 Posted August 3, 2012 Yep, it's ketosis, think of it as the "smoke" from burning all that nasty fat we've stored away for so many years. Bad breath, coat on the tongue, nasty taste, foamy beady spit - just some of the fun of heading into it. It does go away for the most part - although at over 1 1/2 years out I still find myself frothing up occasionally, and my weight is pretty much stable too. Weird and disgusting too. Maybe someone with some nutritionist background can chime in with a more scientific explanation as to why it occurs.
