How Long Off Work...

Recommended Posts

When can I expect it to be safe to return to work? On some days I lift 40-50 pounds continuously.

I really cannot wait for this life change. I have my first consultation on the 13th.

Usually 2 weeks. Lifting 40 pounds probably not a good idea 2 weeks out. If you can take more time I would. I only worked part time do it didn't hurt to take 4 weeks off. I'm glad I did too cause I was still taking a nap at 3 weeks! You are just so tired. It's hard to explain, but your body needs time to refuel and get used to eating 1/4 the food you used to.

I was told to not lift anything over 10 lbs until I had my 6 week follow-up. I went to work within 2 weeks (I really only needed 1, but I had the time). I'm a desk jockey so I do not have a physicaly requirement and I was (am) extremely tired all the time. If I had a more manual job, there is no way I would be able to return to work before 4 weeks.

You body is just going through so much. LOL at Flufflibra..because I was also taking naps, just like my baby at Kindercare! They are needed!

I do some lifting at my job & I thought I could go back to work after two weeks. Doctor said I could only go back if I was on light duty. No such luck, Im off for four weeks. I also had a hernia repair.

My guidance was nothing over 20 lbs for 6 weeks. That might be a bit conservative, but most I've heard are at least 4 weeks with no heavy lifting.
