Dr. Kelly's Patients - Important!

Recommended Posts

Omar asked for two checks both payable to Dr. Kelly.

The first check I pulled from one bank and the second from another. However, my second bank was having an issue and couldn't fit his whole name in the payable to line so I put in Dr. Jaime Kelly. Mistake.

Make sure you put in the full name no matter what. Very long story and all is well now but it would have been a major problem had i gotten to TJ.

PAYABLE TO: Dr. Jaime Ricardo Ramos Kelly.< /span>

I am not sure why two, I did not ask since I was not aware it was out of the norm. Omar for sure also told me two though.

I just have to ask --- does the threat of violence deter any of you from going to Mexico? It has played a factor in my decision.

He says one is for the doctor and the other is for the hospital.

There is a Mexico forum on here that specifically addresses that question often. Look into it.

Violence was the last thing on my mind. I was in a hospital, not in a dark back alley of the ghetto. I never felt uncomfortable or in any danger at any time. Even when we went out and about.

It was a concern but the areas we were in felt perfectly safe. The most dangerous thing was crossing the street :)

I had surgery on July 27th by Dr Kelly. My husband and I walk several blocks around the hotel and we didn't have any problems. Omar will stay with you when he takes you to the shopping areas. He likes to be make sure all your needs are met. He also was there to take us to eat. So you have nothing to worry about I felt very safe.

I've been going to Mexico since I was 15. I spent my teens & early to mid 20's in El Paso. I have all my dental work done in Juarez, Mexico. I've been to Mexico no less than 1000 times.

I can tell you from first hand experience, the violence that you hear so much about is almost all sensationalism by our media. Yes, there is violence in Mexico, but really it's safer than Chicago, Houston, New York, Miami, and a host of other American cities that have known "bad areas". But yet we don't avoid visiting these cities. We simply make sure that when we do we avoid the "bad" part of town.

yes, it was just the one bank that i had a problem with. it just wasn't printing correctly-it should have done thewhole name with no problem. I ended up having to take cash for the $1500 because my banks were closed by the time i discovered he problem. that i did not like. especialy since i had to leave it in my hsopital room when i went for xrays, etc. until Omar arrived.

the only thing i didn't like about my hospital room #12 is you can't open the shades because its right where men pass by working for the hospital. if i had gotten the other side of the hallway i would have felt less confined and able to see sunlight. it's not a hospital like you find in the states but it reminded me of hte hospitals i grew up with (mother was a nurse) back in the 60s and 70s.

very friendly, some spoke clear english, others no so much. if i had it to do over again i would have brought someone. it was more isolation than anything. foreign language, foreign tv, cant see outside, can't talk to family....very, very isolating experience. the only time i got upset was when i repeatedly tried to reach family through cell (expensive but needed contact) or skype (when it chose to work, limited) and i couldn't reach anybody.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
