vdunn87 2 Posted August 2, 2012 My father had RNY. I have been consulting him on the changes I'll go through and how life might be after. He was the heartiest of eaters before surgery. He seemed to always be eating and alot of it. He was like any of us emotionally eating. I had asked him what changed after surgery that made it to where he didn't do that anymore. He said its a mental change after surgery that everyone experiences. I'm wondering is this true? Has anyone else had this change? How has surgery affected your mindset? MeMeMEEE 206 Posted August 2, 2012 It isn't automatic, you need to go in to your surgery with the mindset change, choosing daily to make the healthy choices.
Izuri 428 Posted August 2, 2012 I think at some point you either choose to change and deal with the reasons you ate, or you don't and have trouble later on. Our head hunger can come from an emotional place, or we use it to fill gaps in time, or to take the place of boredom. It seems like at some point those issues will be smack dab in our face =p I am going to be starting counseling soon so that I can meet these issues head on and try and solve them so that I can continue to be the healthiest possible.
