Where To Shop For Clothes

Recommended Posts

It's that time again, I've gone down another size and I have none of this size in my closet so I need practically everything. I have a few options here in my home town but was wondering if anyone else had any tips or suggestions on buying clothes...on a tight budget.

I ebay a ton for clothes and also goodwill. I hit up thrifts too.

For work I had to give in and buy special pants but I found them at Walmart for 13 bucks.

I am entering into same phase. I just hinted to my husband that all of my smallest sizes are now too big. He told me I should just tighten my belt...I wanted to slap him. Anyway, I will be hitting Goodwill, consignment shops, and sale racks at Target and Walmart. I am also considering taking some of my nicer things to the taylor at the local drycleaner. I was told that you can have jeans, pants, dresses etc taken in for very reasonable prices. Also, TJMax ad Marshalls are good bets, especially the clearance racks.

Yes, I always hit TJ Maxx and Marshall's, I can easily find shirts for $5 on their clearence racks. I also have been going to the cheaper stores such as dots, rainbow, ect. There u can find pretty cheap and trendy clothing, the clothes don't last long, but I really can't get much wear out of them anyway. I have 2 pair of work pants dark neutral and I wear them all week, and just switch up my shirts. Good luck.

I am at the same point.. No more shopping in plus size stores!!!! yayy!! I just got into my first pair of size 16 jeans from New York & Co and Old Navy(but only bought the NY&Co ones)... soooooo excited! I am only buying one pair of jeans/pants for work at a time.. and I am going to try and skip a size.. so instead of buying 14's next.. I may try and go for the 12s!! ahhhhhhhhhh could 12s really be next??? yaHOOOO!!!!!!

I have actually found that buying a couple of dresses and skirts are working better and longer than the pants for work. I particularly like the faux wrap dresses. I can still use alot of my tops with a plain a-line black skirt. I have shopped alot on line- there are great bargains there at places you wouldn't think of- like Wal Mart and Target. And Penneys has done a complete makeover and their prices are quite reasonable.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
