You're what...3 weeks out of surgery? 4oz is what you're supposed to be eating. Are you on soft food? Most people are still on soft food at 3 weeks out. If 6oz of food gives you pain at this point, you're eating too much. You need to eat less. Try some mild walking after you eat to alleviate that fullness. It will get easier to eat in the weeks and months ahead.

When you say normally are you talking about the type or amount of food. You will be able to eat normal foods again but maybe not all of them. Some have intolerance to some foods. You won't ever be able to eat the amount you did but the amount you can eat early out will increase a bit over time.

I know my doctor said that if at any stage I begin a food phase and it turns out I'm not ready, go back to the previous stage for a few days and then try again. I think when we reach that point we will be able to handle it, just in very small quantities. It may be more of a phasing regular foods in slowly over time.

It is important to stick with the diet your surgeon gave you. It is not fun, but it is to help your stomach heal and lessen the likely hood of a leak (of course it helps with the weight loss, but not really the intended purpose). Once you start on mushies, it will start to get easier. It is important to take this time early out to change your habits and adapt a healthy lifestyle, but it does not mean you will never get to eat normal foods again. It is true that some foods are more well tolerated, and some take a lot longer to get used to than others and you will find out what works for you. I am now 20 months out, and the first few months feel like a distant memory now. Hang in there, it gets better, promise!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
