PEvette 297 Posted August 1, 2012 Well....next week I will be 8 weeks out....so far I've lost a total of 46 pounds since my surgery date, June 11th, 2012...my family suggested that I take a picture, but I am not a picture taking person.... I know one suggestion is to take pictures along the journey so you can see the difference....but I've been big my whole life, well since age 6, and I just never liked taking pics....others usually take a pic of me and catches me by surprise.... Well let me get to the question...when was it that you were no longer running away from the camera?? 1 ProudGrammy reacted to this
Back~To~Amy 307 Posted August 1, 2012 I'm actually documenting my journey taking pics every 4 weeks. You should take some too. You don't have to share them but you might want to one day. Till then, keep them private. I know people have said they regret not doing so.
Chuckles 28 Posted August 1, 2012 Ever since I got my surgery date! Once a week when i weigh my self i take a picture of myself, i am only 5 weeks out and have lost 30# but it is amazing to see myself change each step of the way
Rootman 1,101 Posted August 1, 2012 I too was camera shy - as most fat people are. I just HATED to see myself, I even avoided looking in mirrors. It seemed better after about a year, we actually went out and had portraits made - a first for me in decades.
prettysleeved1 173 Posted August 1, 2012 I never really ran from the camera because I figure it is what it is. The weight is apparent, even if you don't want to see it in a photo. Everyone sees it when I'm out and about so trying to shield myself from seeing it, I feel, is futile. I may not like what I see but it's me. I walked past a mirror at a department store once and that ruined my day but I got over it. Then again, I have a performance background so I'm used to putting myself out there; good, bad, ugly, pretty.
ProudGrammy 8,322 Posted August 1, 2012 no longer running away from the camera?? PEvette Stop running not worth it try and hide - you are mainly hiding from yourself that being said - i seriously still haven't stopped running away from the camera as a kid, i wouldn't let anyone take a picture of me - some pictures got snuck in by others though as a "heavier" person, i always have hated pictures taken of me i do wish now i had taken basic stages of my journey through different weights good luck kathy
