People Complaining About Protein Shakes?

Recommended Posts

So many people complain that they don't like Protein Shakes but i just love them so much. I really do lol. Especially chocolate spirulina. I can't believe something so delicious is healthy! Its just like having a smoothie . maybe you guys don't like the incontinence ? but i have this Blender Bottle thing with a little whisk ball inside that mixes the drink for you really nicely and is easy to clean so you guys should try that. Seriously though how can you not like Protein shakes!

Are you pre-op or post op....and if you are post op, how far along are you???

I'm 7 weeks post op, and I honestly use protien powder maybe 3 times a week now....I prefer to eat my protien....and my doctor agrees...when you eat your protien it makes getting in 800-1000 calories a day more bareable...plus you get burned out on them after a while....

Plus after you have the procedure, your tastes will change....

I am 7 months post op and have a Protein Drink for Breakfast every day. I used them three years prior to the surgery and had actually picked up the habit while working with a trainer. My Dr feels that is fine and actually suggested the Protein Bars as a substitute since the shakes didn't seem to stay with her. I am picky and exclusively use Iso-Pure chocolate. I like the thinner Protein Shakes and just use Water to mix it. Low cal, lots of Protein and a great way to start the day.

I was sleeved July 17th. I HATE Protein powder!!!!! The only time I like it is when I buy a smoothie from tropical smoothie and they add in the unflavored protein. Otherwise I'm not interested in them. I've tried several brands. Most of them smell awful. How can I drink it if I can't even stand the smell!? OMG. So most of time I end up throwing it into the trash before even tasting it. I can take EAS Protein Shakes but otherwise I'm not interested! lol.

OH yeah you can...my pre-op diet was 4-5 protien shakes a day....I used Matrix, EAS, and some other protien powders during that time....

After surgery the only shake I can stomach is EAS and unjury, oh and nectar....Matrix makes me nausous...

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
