Things To Eat Through The Day

Recommended Posts

So I've been trying to stick with three meals a day since I moved to mushies a few days ago, and I definitely feel my restriction. I really want to try to eat small meals through out the day because I can barely eat and then I'm full. Anybody have any good high Protein ideas for this stage or a sample menu to where I can get my protein in and not feel so full?

My doctor wasnt even concerned about me meeting my protien numbers until I was onto soft foods...and that was at 4 weeks out...

during mushies I ate alot of yogurt, cream of wheat, Beans (pinto, black, lentils) from Amy's Organic Soups, and grits....I refused to use the blender....oh and cheese on my beans...

Egg beaters and chilli (not together of course) both are dense in Protein and were on my approved soft food list. Also, you can still drink some Protein Shakes to offset your mushies, they will give you protein but not push your restriction as much as food will. I was also eating alot of egg salad at that stage (with mustard, no mayo).

cheese Snacks are great, I keep string cheese, Laughing Cow wedges, and Colby Jack sticks handy.

chicken salad! I just started mushies yesterday, 2 weeks out as of today. Chicken salad has been great! I got a single scoop from The Chicken Salad Chick and I have been snacking on it since yesterday around noon! :) it feels so good to eat something normal again!

Does your doctor want you to stick with three meals? I know my clinic prefers that we get in six small meals daily and they'd like us to continue that through maintenance if possible.

Small Protein....Have you tried the babybel cheeses? I am a fan of those. How about Protein Shots? String cheese? Edamame?

I love Cottage cheese, stirng cheese, cheese curds, vegetarion refried Beans w/ cheese, muscle milk, etc....and my Dr's office sells many items that are high in Protein and just right for us to eat-snack on, or drink. Check and see if your dr's office sells anything.....The items I get from them are even higher in Protein than I can get over the counter items at a reg grocery store.

Good Luck

They say 3 meals but I can do 5-6 small meals if it works better. I'll have to try the edamame, yum! Great suggestion . Thanks! And I love cheese too.

Actually, chili over eggs is quite good. I cannot do 3 meals. My restriction is such that I cannot eat enough at a sitting to get enough food in. I eat multiple small meals.

Greek yogurt, egg drop Soup, cottage cheese 2%, refried Beans, high protein Soups and such are still a part of my diet weekly. I still eat cottage cheese or yogurt every day. I also have protein shakes occasionally or protein ice cream that I make myself.

Careful with the Protein Shots. Sometimes they use inferior protein like collagen. It should be whey isolate or egg based. There are whey based ones out there.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
