Hi ImnLeslie. I am 14 days post op but like you, I started testing the food waters months ago. I have had two different meat baby foods in tiny jars which is about the perfect size. One was chicken and the other beef. They both have 9 g of Protein and if you add a bit of seasoning they arent half bad. I personally have only tried one "protein" anything that was decent which is a lemonade. Having said that, I was talking to one of my friends who steered me to Slimfast . You can get it with 10 or 20 g of protien. I got the 20 g one and by golly, its pretty darn good. Its not possible to drink it in one sitting but every little bit helps right?! Good luck! I will tell you the first week is rough but two weeks out Im feeling better than I have in over two years!!

My NUT told me not to have baby food. I'm not sure why exactly, but I think it's because baby food is really just for babies. Besides, most of it is disgusting. Just my two cents.

I was thinking of pureeing the part of Soup that has the meat and stuff and adding it back into the broth. I'm not to the puree stage, but I thought that didn't sound too bad.

So far plain Greek yogurt with a little crystal light is sitting well. I've also had retried Beans with melted cheese and scrambled eggs with melted cheese. I cannot eat enough to get to my Protein goals, so Protein Shakes are a must.

Thanks to another poster on this site I ordered puréed foods from a place called Blossom Foods (blossomfoods.com). They ship puréed food right to you frozen and the portions are perfect Especially, the individual items. The complete meals with Protein, startch and vegetable are a little too much for one sitting for me at this point but you can always reheat it and make a couple of meals out of it. I particular like the chicken enchiladas and the eggs with ham but everything I have tried is really good and it only takes two minutes in the microwave.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
