How much weight did you all lose the first week? just curious as I get ready to weigh myself and see if i am on track...

Everyone is different, some lose none at all or even can gain while others lose a little to a lot. Comparing yourself to others usually is not good.

Me personally I lost about 15 pounds the first week, hardly ate or drank anything and am sure I lost a ton of Water weight.

People lose at varying rates. There are a lot of factors that play into how much weight a person will lose and over what time period so try not to compare too much. I know it is hard, but it can bring you down if you see someone losing faster than you.

That being said, I lost 6.8 my first week.

Good luck to you on your journey!

If there is one thing that I have learned, it's that there really is no "on track" with this surgery, lol. Everyone is different...some lose fast and others lose slow. Save yourself from dissapointment by only focusing on your weight loss, and not comparing it to others. But for the sake of answering your question I lost 11 pounds the first week.

I was told by my Doctor that my Type II diabetes would be cured, I also had a laundry list (see below) that I handed to him and point blank asked him if the surgery could do all of this, he read it, handed it back to me and said "yes" BTW, I still have Diabetes.

It has been 2 years since my surgery, I weighed 194 going in and now weigh 174 pretty much all the time, I am still overweight but needless to say a little lighter, I have dropped from a size 36 pants to a size 34, not a big deal except I had a lot of size 34 pants I can wear again.

I feel like I can eat as much as I did before, but I know I don't if I do "over eat" I get diaherra terrible, so I try to watch that, plus my stomach starts to hurt and it's sometimes hard to breathe.

I just feel hungry all the time, so I do snack a lot just not big Snacks, If I could curb the hunger feeling, I think my weight would be OK.

I would really like to find something safe to curb my hunger feeling.

Sad News is I still have my Type II Diabetes, I don't take quite as much Metformin as I used to, but I still take it daily, the only reason I had the surgery was certainly not to lose 20 pounds but to get rid of my Diabetes, sadly this didn't happen and it's been 2 years since my surgery. Any suggestions on any of the above would be very welcome. Now for the list I promised that my Doctor told me would happen with the surgery.

LAUNDRY LIST I GAVE MY DOC AND HE SAID THE SURGERY WOULD DO THIS !!!!

Many patients with type II diabetes experience complete remission within days of metabolic surgery, long before significant weight comes off. This has led to new thinking that metabolic surgery may also be appropriate for diabetic individuals who are of normal weight or only slightly overweight.

First of all, I agree, try not to compare. Everyone is so different, and there are so many variables that account for weight loss. That being said, I lost nothing my first week home. The morning I came home from surgery (I was self pay in Mexico and flew home 4 days after surgery), I was heavier than when I left. Then, in my second week I lost 17 lbs. Try not to stress too much.

Maybe 20 pounds is not enough to cure the diabetes? I always figured that when they say diabetes can be "cured" with surgery, they just meant that the weight you lose will facilitate the lowering of one's blood sugar.

Have you spoken with him and expressed the fact that despite your efforts, you've only lost 20 pounds?

Oh Yeah, you wouldn't believe the conversations we've had and yelling at each other, now the Doc claims it will only cure Type II Diabetes in 80% of the folks who have this surgery to just cure diabetes, he says I must be in the 20% it doesn't work on. I'm OK with 20 pounds, I wasn't that heavy to start with, as I said I did not have the surgery for weight loss, I had it to cure my Type II Diabetes.

I am glad this thread was posted because I went for my one week post-op today and only lost one pound. I was really feeling discouraged. I am glad this is not uncommon.

Wow. Did you storm out the office with the receptionist shouting, "Miss (or sir)?!" LOL!

I came home 15lb heavier from the hospital then when I went in, but I was thankful for the hydration. So the first week I didn't really lose anything but the Water weight I had gained.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
