Had my surgery on 4/4/12 and I only threw up like one time after I came home from my surgery. Over the last month I've been throwing up on almost a daily basis. Has anyone else had this happen to them?

I am 8 weeks out. I started throwing up on day one and I still throw up every single day...sometimes twice a day. It sucks!!!! The doctor says it should get better soon, but I am still waiting. Sometimes its because of overeating, or eating the wrong thing, or taking my Vitamins, or not eating for a long period, but mostly, I throw up in the morning if I try to put anything at all in my sleeve.

On a side note MiTurner247 are you from michigan?

I was sleeved on the 17th. Yesterday was the first day that I threw up. I felt the food get stuck and then it slowly started to try to make it's way up & out!!! I had cream of chicken Soup and threw it ALL up. I think it was too thick. I was able to keep it down pre-op. Today I had a piece of turkey deli meat and I felt it just sitting there stuck. I thought it would come back up but it slowly made it's way down. I think I need to eat slower. I notice meats take me longer to eat. *shrugs*

Hi

I've written about it somewhere as well.I have what we call (joke with my kids) pukey days!

It just happens some days.Dont know why, dont know what causes it.On those days I just eat very very little and I dont focus on Protein which seems to make it worse. Then, boom, just like that it is gone again.

Seems to me that I should just not plan anything as far as food's concerned as my plans just dont work out.I now get up and see how I feel and eat accordingly.

Can you find a pattern to the throwing up?

O,I read a post today about nausea...it said that she felt sick in the morning and couldnt eat and was given the advice to drink more Water before bed time and ever since she is fine.It has to do with getting dehydrated at night.

I actually said I would try it from tonight.

Am going to drink my Water now and will let you know if it helps.

I was sleeved 2 days after you (4/6/12) and I started throwing up too a few weeks ago, almost every other evening after dinner. I think it was the combination of foods my tummy just did not want, or a few bites too many that would not go down. I switched to really easy things I could tolerate for the evenings until things settled down, and the vomiting stopped and has not returned.

I kind of went back toward creamy Soups for dinner and mashed potatoes with canned chicken and chicken gravy, just 1/2 cup at a meal. This was more like my full liquids/mushy stage foods.

Now I eat my main meal at lunch, very Protein dense, and go easy at night, but I am eating firm Protein again, just going slow and easy and not eating one bite too much.

I would not be surprised if occasionally our tummy's are overwhelmed !!

I would throw up if I ate too much ot too fast for the first 4-5 months. I still get nauseated from time to time if I eat too much or too fast.

I was nauseated last night in my sleep (woke me up) and this evening I ate some really thin sliced chicken breast and almost immediately I got that feeling I was gonna throw up...I went to the bathroom and spit and washed my face off...then took one of the pills I had left over from my surgery for nausea. This isnt a sign of a leak, is it?

Well they have figured out what has been making me throw up. When I had my surgery done my stomach spiraled after they put in the staples. I know this because they did an EGD the day after surgery. So I was admitted into the hospital on thursday and had an EGD on friday. Come to find out I had developed a stricture in the spiral so my doctor used a balloon and stretched it out. Hopefully this solves my problem. Ive lost 70lbs so far and I am so happy about that!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
