Very nice success story in pictures and numbers Kristie! Your weight lost is almost the same as mine:

hw: 360

sw: 335

lw: 178

cw: 185

What is your height? I am 5'11" Are you at BMI weight? Would you say exercise has been a big part of your success? I would say a combination of low carb / high Protein / low fat diet for first 5 months with low/moderate exercise to normal carb / high protein / low fat diet with active lifestyle of daily exercise for last 2 months has helped me the most in getting to goal. Strength training and really intense exercise is helping now to reshape my body into athletic build along with a high protein / normal carb / normal fat diet. you are looking awesome in your level of fitness.

I LOVE seeing everyone's before' date=' during and after pics!

I've been updating this as I go. I just did it the other day because I felt discouraged over very little weight loss recently but I can tell in the face picture that my body is changing. The difference between the second and third image is only about 7-8 lbs but obviously there are still other changes going on too. The last pic in both is from Friday, down almost 90 but lenty more to go.[/quote']

First you look great just awesome! Second we look like we could be sisters lol so im going to keep an eye on you to see what I will look like since im still pre op but hopefully soon! :)

Thank you! Im 5'7. I'm still 40+ pounds from a normal bmi for my height. I would definitely say that my tough exercises 5-6 days a week with the high protein diet that has led to where I am. The surgeon estimates me to be a 6/8 now that the skin is gone so my BMI & weight doesn't make much sense to him.

I totally dont understand the Bmi and size thing as well I'm 5'7 half and 209 19 weeks out but I look so much smaller and I'm thinking like if I get to normal Bmi I would look too skinny I've lost 90 pounds so far so rethinking my goal weight .. I also think the Bmi I chart does not take in consideration of body type and make or female some body type make you look more muscular which makes you look heavier then the small frame which make u look smaller but you weigh more than what ppl think it crazy but good luck and u look great

BMI charts are just a quick tool to gauge size. Its not very accurate when you factor in lean muscle mass.

With that said I would look into body fat percentages more so then BMI charts. You might be at a perfect weight on a BMI chart but also be carrying 30+% body fat. Get to a healthy BMI and under 18% body fat... big difference in appearance.

This guy has been reconditioning his body. He is trying to stay the same weight but drop body fat. In this picture he weights the same in both pictures. Even though he is the same BMI in each photo you can clearly see the difference,,, this is why BMI is not a very good gauge. For very obese people it may be but once you start getting to goal its not that accurate IMO.

Well it has been two years and here are the before and after of clothes. The bottom shorts were from two years ago size 26. The top pair I bought this weekend and they are size 6. I really hope that my mind catches up to my body someday. I still have a hard time believing that I have lost more wight than I weigh now. I still find it crazy????.

Wow! Great job! I am starting in a size 26 also. I can't imagine being in a size 6. You are definitely an inspiration!

Hey Mike - great point and the exact thing I have been working on for last 3 months. The first two of those 3 months have not yielded very good results. I blame it on not eating enough and running too much when combined with the start of strength training. Heavy cardio does not help with building strength, so have put running on hold for now.

Let me tell you, it is hard work to lower body fat % and keep bmi weight the same (or a little lower) when we cannot eat as a normal person would to get gains from lifting.

Being a WLS post op has made this a much harder job I believe because of limited eating capabilities when it comes to daily Protein goal of 1-1.5 g protein per ideal bmi weight (in my case 180 lb). I don't want to drink shakes all the time, so am attempting to eat real lean Proteins of 20-30 g every 2 hours. I try and make my Breakfast, recovery and bedtime shakes between 35-40 g. Still am not getting high enough for goal protein numbers. I definitely do not get hungry with all this eating throughout the day. Love eating all the time though.

My 3 lifting workouts a week are short, but intense (30-40 min). I have 2 days of cross fit (45 min) and ab work (20 min) a week. And finally 1 day of circuit (1 hour). Dropped most of my cardio except for 1 mile fast run before lifting or sprints during cross fit when it comes up. As soon as I stopped running 5 k and 10 k throughout the week and focused only on intense cross fit and lifting, my body started cooperating and reshaping.

I am about 3 weeks into this approach. My weight is staying in the healthy BMI range for my height, but am dropping an average of 2-3 lb a week in last month. Fat percentage went from 19% to 16 % and my strength is really improving.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
