Wtf! 3 Wks Out And Only Lost 8 Lbs?!?

Recommended Posts

I am so frustrated right now. Today makes 3 weeks since I had the surgery and I have only lost 8 lbs!!! I have been eating less carbs, walking more, and eating more Protein.< /p>

What in the heck is going on? I lost more weight than this just eating around 1800 calories a day before I even started the pre-op diet!

Is it always going to be like this? Was it even worth it?

What does your daily diet consist of?

Maybe you're eating more than you think? Even though it's low-carb, the calories could be adding up against you.

I'm surprised you are even allowed to eat regular food. I'm 8 days out and I can't even start full liquids until next week.

Don't stress too much your body is still in shock from major surgery. Its super common to lose slow at first. Are you getting in enough calories, Protein, and Water...not getting enough of all 3 can cause slow loss. Hope things get better for you quickly!

Hi

This looks like an exact copy of a post I wrote when I was about 3 weeks post op.Except I always lost faster before, not directly pre op.

Listen, here's what I had to do.Be PATIENT,it will happen. You know what you are eating. How much you are moving (I wasnt moving much at all though)I also know the doubt..."Im doing the right things, why am I not losing?Im doing it wrong somehow but only eating 800 cals?Im going to do more to make it work...and at the end of the day,it comes off at its own pace!Your body will let go of the weight the way it needs to and you will have to get to a point where you accept that.Difficult in the beginning but you have to learn to not rely on the scale alone.

Go and look at the totals of everyone thats been sleeved longer.Even people that considers themselves slow losers lose a lot and keep losing.

I think patience is one of the build in lessons of this surgery.Maybe one we need to actually stick with the program until the end (maybe something we never really did before thus always gaining the weight back)

Good luck and I cant wait to see your progress in a month or so.

O,and when you can start, exercise girl, exercise!(I am the new exercise preacher as I didnt and have loads of skin and very little muscle mass!..lol)

You are going to do great, look great and feel great, just you wait and see!

I am going to make an appointment with a nutritionist, and while waiting for an appointment I am going to do what I did before I started the pre-op diet.

I ate right when I woke up, ate every 2-3 hours small meals, and drank plenty of Water.< /p>

Ex of lunch was 1/2 a turkey and mustard sandwich on whole grain wheat and 1/2 cup of strawberries

Plus I am going to try to add at least 1 hour of exercise. Even though I do walk more now than I did before the surgery I know that I should be doing more. I think I got comfortable sitting down and "recovering" even though I moved on quite quickly after the surgery to soft foods and then solids. Going to step up my game, get some advice from the NUT and give it some time.

I figure if I am still at a stall in 3 or 4 months I will have another little breakdown!

You can have sandwiches (with bread? !?) at only 3 weeks out? I'm 3 weeks out and I still can't even have pureed food.

Ok,the sandwich will not really help as far as protein's concerned. And your hair will fall out (anyway) but more so if you dont hit your Protein per day.

As a portion at 3 weeks out half a sandwich and strawberries do sound like a lot.Do you not feel over full with that amount?

At 3 weeks we were still on very mushy foods and I could really really only do half a cup sometimes (more like .25 plus another bite or 2 )

What I have always found was eating stimulated me to want to eat more. The smaller my portion size the less I feel like eating, the way we want it to be,not feeling hungry, not thinking of food all the time.

Make that appointment with your nut quickly to get the food help you need.

I'm very surprised about being on regular food to that extent as well. I'm 4 weeks and struggling with the soft foods! And I was told no fresh fruit or veggies for at least 6 weeks.

I would lay off the carbs: that may trigger more loss. Wrap a string cheese in a piece of ham and dip it in the mustard. Good luck!

Even though you are allowed to eat, maybe go to some low calorie Protein Shakes, Soups, mashies ( very little) to see if your body reacts and starts losing. Just a suggestion, best of luck.

Are you having enough Protein? I know they told me first and foremost always get in my Protein. Are you measuring everything?

If so, give your body some time. It's adjusting. The weight will come off as long as you are following the plan. I know it's hard to hear, and if I were in your shoes I would be frustrated too (And probably will when I hit my 3 week stall), but a stall around this time is common. Search the boards you will see it over and over again. It might take a bit, but your body will get back on track. In the mean time keep watching your measurements. Maybe you are losing inches!

My surgery was on jun 25 and I'm on full liquids !!!

I've been a slow loser so I know how frustrating it can be, but overall, in less than a year I've lost quite a bit of weight and NONE of my old clothes fit and I can slide into any booth. It happens, but we are all different and lose at a different pace.

I track my intake on myfitnesspal.com so I can look back and see what my body responds better to. I was not allowed to move to regular food until six weeks, at your stage I was definately on mushy/soft foods.

As I moved forward (I'm almost 4 months out now) I can eat pretty much everything, but I trend toward a low carb diet as it helps me lose more consistently. At 3 weeks I was eating about 800 calories/less than 40 grams of carbs/70-80 grams of Protein and walking everyday for 30 or more minutes.

Good Luck....and not to worry the weight will come off....just stay on track and let it happen.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
