SarSmyle 37 Posted August 20, 2012 Hi - I'm three weeks out from my surgery and have no regrets whatsoever... am off all diabetic and anti-hypertensive medications (just taking vitamins), which was my goal and main reason for doing this... _ Sarah 1 Tammy310 reacted to this
v_desch 1 Posted August 20, 2012 Oh boy, I was regret city for a few days. I'm only 3 weeks out, so I still have my moments of "why did I do this to myself?!". But I know that things will get better, and already I can see a difference and that just motivates me even more! I have less and less regret as I can eat more foods, it is VERY difficult for the first few weeks, straight liquids (you will never want a vegetable more in your life!). But now I can eat mashed potatoes and Soup and I'm a happy camper. And it just so happens that my boyfriends birthday falls on my 6 week mark (yay for being able to go Celebrate his birthday out in public and NOT have to eat pureed foods)! I hope all these comments help you! I know that I made the right decision, but only you know what is right for you! Good luck!
Lisa :) 231 Posted August 20, 2012 I had buyers remorse in the initial stages post op but I would do it all again in a heartbeat!!! There are also certain foods that I just don't tolerate very well (like salad) and I really miss them at times!! But the payoff is worth it and I just have to remind myself that I don't need to be emotionally attached to food.< /p>
CowgirlJane 14,260 Posted August 20, 2012 Lisa We have similiar stats. I was sleeved a month after you, have lost over 100# but still want to lose another 40-45 or so. I only lost 8# preop and that is included in my stats. I am in a stall, but optimistic that I will get there - may take me 18 months, but i can do it! Just wondering how you are doing since we have similiar amounts to lose. I have been in a stall for about 3 weeks! I know I need to change something up, but on some level am kind of enjoying the short break and just being at a stable size for a little while. Weird maybe. This, I guess, is just how it goes for me now...this has been the pattern for about 4 months now. I truly believe my body has to adjust to the losses, especially now that I'm getting closer to goal. Hang in there...I think it would be really really hard to have the sleeve fail us!!!

Hang in there...I think it would be really really hard to have the sleeve fail us!!! I was sleeve May 14/12 and I seem to go through a similar cycle! I lose quite well for about 3 weeks, then stall for 10-12 days. I've had this cycle repeat every month (right around my surgiversary), and at first it was very frustrating. Now I know it's coming up around the 14th of every month and I "ride it out". Almost like a menstrual cycle (LOL). I guess the only anxiety is in waiting to see if the losing starts again after the 10-12 day time frame is up! And so far, so good.........currently another 4-6 days to go and I expect to be back on that downward trend! I'm about 1/3 of the way to goal now (down 62 lbs and another 122 to go). Quite a bit further than you are.......but it's no race or contest! We'll get there, when our bodies decide it's time. In the meanwhile, I'm trying to reinforce my new good habits and kill off the old bad ones! No regrets at all in my case. And I too desperately wish I could have had this surgery 20 years ago! I've been obese my entire life (since age 10!) and there is alot I gave up so that I could have all that food. Time to get my life back and enjoy all those things I've put aside. Rev Me Up! 75 Posted August 21, 2012 The first couple of months are HARD, but I didn't regret it for a moment. I had a lap band that was useless and replaced it with the sleeve. Now I am so relieved to be "normal" again. Every journey is different, and every journey is difficult. But, for me, it was a journey worth taking.
mdefabio 73 Posted August 21, 2012 My only regret is that I didn't do it much sooner!!!!!
june13sleever 223 Posted August 22, 2012 No regrets. I love watching at the people be stuffed after eating and I am just slightly full. I still have great restriction after a year and two months. My doctor's goal was 180, my goal was 170...I weigh 165 and I am still losing. I lost 4 pounds last month! I do not see it. I know I am waaaaaay thinner, but I still feel thick. I take pics...that is the way I notice. I hope to lose another 15, but where I am is pretty fabulous! 2 DivaK and xavtay2 reacted to this
