Definitely search for regrets and you will find a million posts I am sure. You will be able to find a lot of information from both sides of the coin.

Me, not a chance. The way I feel about myself, the fact that I can shop anywhere, and the reality of living a healthy, normal life outweighs food any day!

I think that it is very hard to assess how "ready" you are. I was banded in 2001 and I really really thought I was ready. In hindsight, I didn't know what it even meant to be ready.... really, i just had no idea. It sucks that I had a miserable 10 years with the lapband, regained all the lost weight etc, but I tell you what, it really makes me appreciate the tool that the sleeve is. Also, since I was in such a different state of mind with the sleeve, I didn't regret that I don't get to eat much anymore. Like i said before, the rough Patches were just in perspective. I felt very worried about the risk of a revision, but in the end, decided I was dying slowly from the obesity and so might as well throw the dice and go through with it. Overeating was ruining my health and interferring with my life - I was just done with it.

I went through a lot of turmoil in the year leading up to this surgery, maybe i got alot of it out of my system... not sure.

Now, what is more bothersome is that everyone else cares so much about food...lol. Damn these people who all want to take time for meals an stuff. :)

I'm only a week out, but the liquid diet's been fine. I am feeling good, pain is decreasing pretty quick. Don't regret it at all so far. I will come back to this question again in a year or so and have a more accurate answer =)

4 months out and no regrets, I'm so happy I had the procedure done!

I am just 5 days out, no regrets at all. The only thing that gets me down right now is the discomfort i have on my left side. Just hope that that goes away soon.

No regrets. 3 months out; 52 lbs down; you need to be prepared for those side effects people tell you about,

Gas- burping and pooting; burping all the time when I eat! Before surgery I thought no big deal; but you need some kind of medicine handy at all times; I only take when needed; it hasn't been bad. But unexpected even with warning.

hair loss- it does happen ; hasn't yet to me but I'm expecting it; eat your protein; be sure of this!!!!

Dehydration- is prevalent in the first month; it's very hard to get 64 oz of Fluid in ; Smart Water ; G2, these have electrolytes; that you will need;

Use a straw if you have to even though they say not to; make it easier to get it in.

Sleep- get some ; when I don't sleep well I gain.

Weight loss- this is a roller coaster for some; like me, down, down , up, up, down, down, don't get too upset when you gain; this Ai a clue to not enough of water; calories; sleep; lack on BM.

FATS- you need some for you BM; or your gonna regret it. I went from daily BM TO every 4 days or so.

I had nothing but regrets the first month. A year later absolutely, no regets. Would recommend it to any and everyone with a weight problem or Heath issues due to a weight problems.

I am 9 days away from a year out, and I have no regrets. I did think I'd be at goal by now. I still have another 30 pounds.

To be honest, I think I could have been at goal by now if I'd continued to deny myself some food types. I don't eat a lot of them, but it slows my weight loss (popcorn/alcohol, for example). Part of why I didn't deny myself is because I didn't get this surgery to deny myself. I wanted a tool not a lock.

I still plan on getting to goal. It just didn't happen the first year. But what I have lost and how much better I feel? Priceless.

It took me 18 months to reach my goal, so don't get discouraged. And I am exactly like you, I decided in the beginning that this was something that I had to live with for the rest of my life. I made many changes and eat very healthy now, but I still eat foods that so many would say are "not on the plan". I knew that I could never live the rest of my life on a diet, eating 30 or less carbs a day and never eating ice cream again. Now I have those things, but in moderation. I am in control of my eating (most of the time!), and even though I most likely lost a little slower than others, I have reached goal and I am still losing a little and now am below goal. I agree, what this has given me is priceless.

I had a great surgery and the easiest recovery. I was very lucky. It's the best thing I've ever done for myself and the only regret I have is that I couldn't have done it years ago.

There has not been one time at all that I have regretted having surgery. I am happy and healthy and alive!

I had my days where I would regret the surgery in the beginning but things really turned around after month 4. That was about the time my food addiction and head hunger kind of stopped and I started working on my new relationship with food as only a source of fuel and not comfort.

Now I am 6 months out. Lost 87 lbs. I am 1 lbs from my doctor's goal. I past my personal goal a month ago. I am really happy now. Sure I miss some things about eating but now when I go out to eat with other people and I see how much they are stuffing their face with foods that are soooo not healthy for you, I get a little sick...like physically sick. I remember doing that same thing and at the time thinking "it tastes so good" and it felt good at the time but an hour later I would be crying about how fat I was or how nasty I felt from just over eating or I had to unbutton my pants just to get comfortable.

Now I have a few bites and I am done. Everyone else is leaving the table feeling gross and I am thinking...ha ha...I am still a size 2, XXS and I look hot in these jeans! I still think about food but now I am worried about not getting enough Protein in or making sure I get to 1200 calories today.

Just remember, those things that you miss right now…those are the things that made you unhealthy and have surgery in the first place. Everyday gets a little bit better.

I had serious buyer's remorse and regretted having the surgery for quite a while--I had a lot of excess acid and spent the first 7 weeks post-op throwing up, which was NOT conducive to appreciating the weight loss that was going on!

But once I got a handle on that (thank you, VST folks, for the Prilosec recommendation!), it has been just fine. YES you will be making a series of adjustments as you go. YES you will develop a different (healthier) relationship with food. YES you will experience some ups and downs in weight loss (ugh--stalls!). But, and here's the kicker that makes it all worthwhile--YES you will lose the weight, and YES you will have a permanent tool to help you keep it off. !!!!!

NO regrets long-term at all. And the results? Oh, YES, thank you.

I wondered what the hell I did when I got home, I've mourned food. I've just gotten rid if my 1st set of 'too big' clothes @ 19 days post-op. it's a physical & emotional rollercoaster in the beginning. Its a lot to absorb, this new way of life. But I absolutely do not regret it!

      Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
      1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

        All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

      I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
