There must be areason why at 4 months in this happens. I wonder if the initial shock nutritionally and physically produces the Hair loss and depending on how well one adjusts explains why some lose hair and some don't. I read somewhere it's a symptom of malnutrition. Any thoughts?

I was sure this was not going to happen to me since I have had such an easy time of it..then came month 4, lol. I do have long hair and I started taking Biotin right after my surgery. My Hair loss is not noticeable to anyone but me, but I do notice! I have to clean out my hairbrush about every other day. It really needs to be colored too but I'm afraid to stress it out at all. I'm just trying to be gentle with it, get my Protein, take my Vitamins and wait it out. I'm down 51lbs so i will deal with it.

I'm almost 4 months post-op and am definately losing hair. It's a good thing it got so thick with Vitamins before surgery or I might be bald very soon. A friend who also had surgery a few yrs ago told me to take Biotin, Lysine, Zinc, Flax Seed Oil and mega doses of B12 for the Hair loss. That's a lot to add to my already large dose of vitamins...I just started yesterday so don't have results yet but hoping it works...I'm going on a cruise in October and don't want to be bald. Oh am down 60lbs.

I am new to this forum and am waiting for my surgery in a couple of months. RE the hair loss... It's only hair. It will grow back. I know, because 2 years ago I got quite sick with a virus in my heart and lost a lot of hair. I thought for a while I would just shave my head, but then wouldn't you know, Britney Spears did it, and I did not want people to think I was copying her! LOL!! Anyways, my hair all grew back. Its a side effect from the Protein loss, apparently.. so take heart. Look at it from the perspective of someone who supports breast cancer! You are alive, and getting healthier every day! Rejoice in that aspect!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
