Greens And Salads Missing Them

Recommended Posts

I am 3 months post op. I have tried greens 3 times. They did not agree with me. I want to try them again and would die for a salad. When were you able to eat lettuce? My doc days I can try to see if I tolerate it now.

I have some everyday. Wrap my meat up in it like its a tortilla. Had shrimp lettuce wraps last night. It's very filling, but I don't have a problem with it.

I agree it is very filling, before surgery I would make salads in a mixing bowl (!!) and eat the entire bowl! Now if I finely chop greens like arugula, radichio, spinach, with a teaspoon of dressing and maybe a 1/4 of a cucumber, I can eat about a teacup's worth of salad. It's funny, salad is so filling it is now a treat! In order to get my Protein in I can't have salad as part of my dinner, it has to be a separate snack because it is too filling to eat both a green salad and protein like a chicken breast or steak.

I was too terrified to eat raw greens in the first 6 months, I didn't even eat green vegetables that had been cooked to practically mush in the first 4 months because I was so terrified of what might happen (I was far from any Dr that could help if something went wrong). I am 2 years out and the teacup amount is what I can eat now.

I'm 7 weeks out and had no problem, but wasn't able to eat very much. Ive only tried iceberg though. Crunchy Water as my friend calls it lol.

I was having small salads with leftover meat and some salad veg after 3-4 weeks. I normally used chopped spinach instead of lettuce for its somewhat better nutrtional content, but I would sometimes have a bit or two of my wife's restaurant salad to no ill effect. As with everything else, try a little to test for tolerance and if it doesn't work, try again in a couple of weeks.

I'm 8 weeks and have been having them since around week 5, I've been a fortunuate one to not have any problems with anything I'm allowed to have, I have still not attempted anything I shouldn't have.

I had my first salad at 3 mos out - mixed arugala, romaine, radicchio - "European blend" or whatever it's called. I actually didn't find it filling at all. Maybe it's a slider for me? Who knows. I ate a small side salad (the kind that comes in an a la carte sized bowl) and still had room for a good amount of fish - actually more fish than I'd generally eat by itself. It went down fine and stayed down fine.

Crunchy lettuce ike iceberg tends to go down easier, but nutritionally it's crunchy Water. Maybe try some iceberg? And if it goes down OK you can work up to other, higher quality lettuces.

I am close to a year out and eat salads quite often being a vegetarian... However I was not able to eat them without vomiting or diarrhea until about 5 mos out. Even then I gradually went into them.. a few bites here and there just to test the waters... NOw I have no problem and can eat kale, greens, spinach, salade etc... NO problems.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
