I just noticed a fever of 100.1. Hell's bells, I hope it's temporary. Gonna lay down now with my doggies. I was so excited to catch up on posts but suddenly not up to it. I'll have to catch up with the boards tomorrow.

Peace and love (say it in your best Mexican accent.)

Lisa: A fever post op is not surprising. IT is your bodies way of coping and getting back on track. But that said I would watch it closely and take some Tylenol. If it keeps rising then make a phone call.

You are in my prayers.

Lisa, I am keeping you in my prayers. I truly hope that everything goes well for you and that you recover quickly and with no more complications. I'll be watching for your posts to see how you make out in Mexico this weekend. My heart goes out to you. May God bless you and keep you in his care. Denise

sleeping tight, that's so funny. You'll see my earlier post where my phone rang at 1:44 a.m. with a very drunk friend who needed a ride home. We've told all our friends to please call us if they ever decide to drive while drinking, so hubby was nice enough to get out of bed and take the drunk home. She's gonna be one hurting pup when she gets up.

When he got back, he was wide awake, and he found me on the boards. It's been 8 years since he's asked me on one of our special "after-midnight" dates, where we go to the casino for 99cent b-fast. I knew I wouldn't be able to fall asleep with all these words trapped in my head, so we went out at 2am. He's being so romatic cuz we haven't done anything wild & crazy in nearly a decade.

So we got in the truck and there was a drunk driver in front of us that crossed all lanes at once and skimmed the wall on the freeway but kept going! Holy crap, she nearly killed herself yet kept driving. We were headed for the Strip, and she was in front of us the whole time. As we exited the freeway, she made her right turn but turned so wide that she missed all 3 lanes and ended up making the right turn in the 4th lane, which was the traffic flowing in the opposite direction! She nearly head-on collissioned the oncoming vehicles, so quickly drove up the curb and over the medium to get back into our northbound lanes and we watched as she nearly collided at top speeds with another vehicle. This girl was going to kill someone, so we called the police. They kept us on the line and had us follow her. It took about 10 minutes before a motorcycle cop was next to us, but dispatch asked us to pull over as witnesses. So we did, but the cop came over with a disgusted chuckle and told us we could split because he saw enough in the couple minutes he was behind her. The drunken dumshit had her emergency flashers on, crossing all the lines on Las Vegas Blvd. where the streets are flooded with cars and pedestrians at 3a.m. She looked about 30 with 2 twenty-something boys talking on the cell phone and not wearing saftety belts. So maybe hubby saved some lives tonight then took me to 2 casinos where we played and came home with $40 more than we started!

All that in just a few hours! Sorry for losing track of the post, but Penni, I thought of you the entire time. I, too, wasn't sure what hospital you'd be in. My cell wasn't working, and every time I had the opportunity to call you was either too early or too late. My TJ experience was like one of those dreams where you keep running but you can't get to your destination. You were on my mind the entire time and even Babs kept mentioning you. I'm glad you didn't have to get your port removed, but to tell you the truth, it feels damn good to have that thing outta me!

Someone on these boards had their port removed and said she'd rather go through surgery to have the port replaced long enough to fill her then remove it in the same surgery. That's how I feel today. After that bad port experience, I think I'd rather just go through surgery everytime I need a fill so I don't need the port. I'm sure I'll feel different after I recover.

Please give me a list of any all California doctors. Penni, aren't there any in the Valley or L.A.?

I think I'm sleepy enough to go back to bed. It's so weird to see light outside. What a long, weird few days it's been, and Auntie Em, there's no place like home!

I swear, when I was in TJ I felt like Dorothy in Oz and you guys were the Scarecrow, the Lion, the Tinman, Toto. Shelly, I saw your face in a crystal ball! I just kept thinking about you guys and wondering how I got in this predicament. Yes, big restriction. Had 2 baby PBs from just liquid. I'm supposed to be sleeping but my antibiotics are stuck in my throat, even though I took them piece by piece with choco-milk. Someone told me milk, so maybe I should stuck with plain. Next antibiotic will be with Water because they're just not going down fast enough.

Oh, and you guys don't know nothing about gas till you have a port removed! This is way worse than my original surgery. At least they're not foul! Husband is jealous (typical man.)

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
