Non Protein Shake Ideas For Lots Of Protein

Recommended Posts

Shain. Can you give us a " here's what I eat on a daily basis" idea?

A typical day for me;

0600 30g premier protien shake or frozen frozen fruit smoothie w/Syntrax nectar

0900 10g 1whole egg+ 1 egg white

1100 23g 1liter Water w/1 ocean spray flavor(cran-cherry) & 1Syntrax nectar packet(cherry)

1300 15g 3oz tilapia filet

1600 30g premier protien bar(this is a calorie killer but I sacrifice a few calories for the extra protien)

1900 21g 3oz pork loin

2000 23g 1liter Water w/1 ocean spray flavor(cran-peach) & 1Syntrax nectar packet(fuzzy navel)

There is also another liter of water throughout the day but I didn't list it since there is no protien added to it.

This is close to 1000 calories but has over 140g protien, and is based on 3oz portions on the more solid foods

If you trimmed the portions in half and dumped the protien bar you'd end up at about 700cal and 90g protien

I still incorporate SOME veggies and even fruit into my diet. Heck you gotta "keep things moving" you know what I mean!

OH and Joy - I also did miso Soup (I love it from a certain restaurant) ... it was supposed to be high in Protein. I'd have to look it up to know for sure, but if you get bored, that's another one to try. Also go to the world according to eggface and look in her recipes. She has one for ... oh what is it.... no bake lasagna or something. It's Tomato sauce and ricotta I believe. I know those soft phases and such can be boring, but it won't last that long. I swear!

oh it's baked ricotta.... here's the recipe:

Shelly's Baked Ricotta

8 oz of Ricotta cheese

1/2 cup grated Parmesan

1 large Egg, beaten

1 teaspoon Italian Seasoning

salt & pepper to taste

1/2 cup Marinara Sauce

1/2 cup shredded Mozzarella cheese

Mix ricotta cheese, parmesan, beaten egg, seasonings together and place in a oven proof dish. Pour marinara on top and top with mozzarella cheese. Bake it in the oven @ 450 for about 20-25 minutes (best) or nuke it till hot and bubbly. I usually made it first in the oven and heated the leftovers in the microwave

This search on Google can help: tofu recipes ("low fat" OR "low calorie" OR healthful)

Also, you can puree tofu in the blender along with some splenda or equal + Water or milk + fruit or Protein powder - even green leafy vegetables, such as spinach!. Puree it on the highest speed (I have a VitaMix). Add a few ice cubes and puree them as well. You have a smoothee. You essentially turntofu into a liquid. This pureeing technique works with firm, medium, soft and silken textures of tofu. I do find that different brands of tofu have different flavors. My own personal favorite brand is Mori Nu. You can order cases of Mori Nu online. But other people might find other brands to be better. Tofu always has helped me lose weight in the past. I hope that this information is helpful.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
