Surgery Tomorrow.... Pre-Op Torture

Recommended Posts

I can't believe the day has come. I am super excited. I must say the whole pre-op process has been torture. 15 day all liquid pre-op diet. Today I drank my bottle of magnesium citrate, washed with half a bottle of hibiclense, and just got done gargling and swishing half the bottle of listerine (holy hell my mouth is on fire). Tomorrow morning I will wash with the remaining hibiclense and gargle with the remaining listerine. I know all of this prep will be worth it in the long run. The skin is the first line of defense and it is best to be pro-active. They pushed my surgery from 7:30 am to 1:30 in the afternoon. I just want to get this over with and begin my new sleeved life. I am so ready. Thank you everyone for all of your support, I can't tell you all how grateful I am for discovering this group. Wish me luck and I'll see ya all on the other side.

Woohoo! The day is finally here for you =D It will fly by! That listerine swish sounds brutal, I have to buy the non-alcoholic listerine, the burning just kills my mouth. You'll be in my thoughts and prayers!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
