Do You Get Taller?

Recommended Posts

When you lose weight do you get taller? Considering you don't have excessive junk in the trunk now you can probably stand up straighter and closer to the wall giving you an inch or two advantage - right??? :)

I did't get taller, but I look taller!! I had very long, skinny legs hiding under the layers of fat. It's still strange to look in the mirror. Lol

I have heard that the bones and joints compressed by the weight will release and re-lengthen. I don't know if it's true but it seems that I have gotten the half inch back I misplaced some time ago...

Oh, Lord, yes, I'm sorry, you may get taller. I'm saying this as a 6'2" woman... and yes, I think I'm much closer to 6'3" now. Great. LOL Seriously, I read that, too, that the joints of the spine decompress a bit as you lose as much weight as we are losing. That's not spectacular news for me, but it might be for you--and it IS good news for the health and pain-free operation of our collective backs!

I certainly hope it's true. I am 5'11" and I have always wanted to be 6'0". Geez I hope when I get sleeved I can gain that extra inch I always wanted. Not sure if that actually happens, but eh... you just never know. LOL

I hope I hope I hope!! I always thought I was 5'6- I could have sworn being measured as a teen and being told I was 5'6 and even 5'6 and a half once! Heck I used to push it and tell people I was 5'7! To my shock and horror I was measured recently and I'm 5'5!! WHAT THE... I've been wondering if it's possible that weight over time and compress on you and make you shrink-idk (if so yikes my poor bones!) but I would LOVE to gain my mysteriously vanished inch back! Fingers and toes crossed!

I have actually heard of people getting shorter. The most famous one:

http://voices.yahoo.com/varsity-blues-actor-ron-lester-loses-315-pounds-1008453.html

He is 2 inches shorter because his feet and head were so padded!

I don't know about my feet, but I never had fat on the top of my head. Trip. The dude looks great. I was going to ask if it damaged his career. I got my answer. It did. He looks good, but just like 500,000 others trying to get acting jobs.

I'm not sure I'll actually be taller, but I do know I'm a notorious sloucher! I will probably gain an extra inch or two when I stand up straight cause less weight is holding me down!
