JenKMi 33 Posted July 30, 2012 My surgery is Tuesday!!! I've waited the 6 months, I'm down 30# already. I'm worried about the bowel prep tomorrow. How bad is it?
karenb4729 309 Posted July 30, 2012 The bowel prep is nothing. I had to drink 10oz of magnesium citrate - took about 5hrs to work and it wasn't nearly as bad as the prep I did for the colonoscopy. With the bowel prep I knew I had to go and went only a few times and was cleaned out - with the colonoscopy it seemed to go on all night long.
Rootman 1,101 Posted July 30, 2012 Hmmm, it's kind of unusual to have to take a bowel prep for a VSG but what the hay, cleaner is always better and what you DON'T want is to have a colon packed full of stuff post op and have to bear down to go - VERY uncomfortable. You results can range from barely anything to explosive diarrhea. I tend to have hardly any issues, my wife just looks at the bottle and runs to the can. You can get through it - THIS TOO SHALL PASS
Izuri 428 Posted July 30, 2012 The only bowel prep my surgeon made me do was 2 dulcolax tablets at 10am the day before surgery. I went quite a few times, but it wasn't bad or anything.
