So I had my sleeve Monday July 23rd. The hospital stay was not bad. However if you have it a OLOL you have to remind them to feed you and sometime remind them to give you your meds. This is typical there. Otherwise my doctor was great and before the surgery the nurse was great. I have had a hard time with the amount of food my body will allow. I could never tell if I had had enough or to much. But I never got sick, so I assume I eating enough. The last two days I have also had a hard time drinking all the Protein that is required. But all in all it hasnt a bad experience. I have read a lot of the threads on this app and they have been helpful. broth, sugar free Jello, and yogurt have been most of my meals. I tried grits which didn't bother me and mashed potatoes which went down easily. But I didn't eat either of these until the 6th and 7th day. I have lost 5lbs so far. I am very excited for the future and all the new activities I will be able to do.

Chrissie, My surgeon is Dr. Andrew Hargroder. I'm having surgery at Woman's Hospital. Date is coming fast!, Monday 8/13 at 9:00 am is it. Did pre- op interview on phone today with nurse. Everything is ready to go!! Getting nervous and excited at same time!! Sorry it take me so long to reply back. I did not even remember that there was a Baton Rouge board. Glad to know there are others close by who had same procedure. Praying everyone is doing well.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
