Sannah 258 Posted July 29, 2012 Hello All! How often do you weigh yourself? It is my understanding and I see how, that some people can become addicted to weighing themselves. I have heard some say they weigh daily or multiple times a day. What is your schedule? What do you consider to be a healthy relationship with the scale? Does twice weekly sound alright? Looking forward to hearing! Sannah
Amom2twins 58 Posted July 29, 2012 I get weighed every two weeks. I find when I do it more frequently, I get disappointed. I like to see a nice number change.
Foxbins 625 Posted July 29, 2012 I weigh myself every day, because ignoring the scale when I was fat was a way of denying that I had a problem with food. However, I am pretty laid-back and don't obsess about the number. I'm in maintenance and as long as I'm under 140, all is good. Over that, out goes the yogurt and oatmeal and in come the hard-boiled eggs and Protein shakes! 1 carbgrl reacted to this

I might take the batteries out of my scale to keep from weighing every day!

JD7176 84 Posted July 29, 2012 I weigh twice a week. Monday is my official weigh day that I record and Thursday is my check day. If on Thursday I haven't lost any weight I go back and look at my food diaries, etc. There still time to find and correct my mistake for the week on Thursday. No matter how bad I want to weigh myself more, I won't.
sillygirlmi 8 Posted July 29, 2012 I have a couple of friends that heard and follow this advice, weigh everyday, but take the average loss for the week. Personally, I have been weighing almost everyday. It is a kick to see it going down! But I am a little over a month post op, so I am still seeing drops almost every day! LouiseC 1,031 Posted July 29, 2012 I weigh every day. The fluctuations don't bother me, in fact I am learning about my body and my tolerance to different foods from the variances. Sent from my iPad using VST
MamaM 72 Posted July 29, 2012 I weigh everyday, for the most part. I only count the loss, if there is one, if I hang on to that for a few days. It's a habit I got into w/my band. Doc wanted me on the scale everyday when I was having problems to be sure I was paying attention to what I was eating. I'm not obsessive about it. If I miss a day, oh well. Back~To~Amy 307 Posted July 29, 2012 I weigh every morning. If you do that though you have to take what you see with a grain of salt, so to speak. You may wake up one morning and see you "gained" 3 pounds because your body can fluctuate like that. On the flip side, you may wake up and see you "lost" 3 pounds too. If you think about it, you can't lose or gain 3 pounds overnight without extreme exercise or eating. It really is fluctuations in your body. I wish I could weigh just once a week, but I just can't seem to hold out.
JenniJune 79 Posted July 29, 2012 I try to weigh twice a week, sometimes more, sometimes less. If I weigh any more than that it drives me bonkers.

I put quite a bit of stock in those numbers when I need to focus on how I feel, how my clothes fit, etc. I also hate scale discrepancies. My home scales have always shown me about 10lbs lighter than my doctors scales. Even those vary. My doctors office pre-op I was 290. The hospital pre-op I was 283. My doctors office 1 week post-op I was 276. All I know is I dropped 14lbs from 2 weeks pre-op to 1 week post-op. it's confusing. Lol. At home... I feel better. My skin is clearer. I try to keep my urine a pale yellow. My snugalicious jeans now have a little give in the hips, butt, thighs. My next weigh in is 5 weeks post-op.
lollyfidy1965 402 Posted July 29, 2012 I generally weight myself every day, first thing in the morning. If I find I'm "stuck" on the same number for two days in a row, I'll wait a couple days before weighing again. (This helps me avoid the desperation of getting "stalled".) Typically, if I wait a couple days, when I step back on the scale, I will find the number has dropped again. I track my weight on a spreadsheet, and LOVE to see the steadily declining data line!!! Best of luck to you!
