Jackie980 0 Posted July 28, 2012 Hi my name is Jackie, I'm new to this & would truly love help with more info. It would be helpful if anyone in Brooklyn, N.Y knows of any doctors who can do this surgery as well as a revision of the band & hernia removal. I also would love to know how people who have done this surgery feel 3yrs or more later. Are there any complications a couple years later? Any help will be highly appreciated. Thanks in advance & God bless!

Jackie980 0 Posted July 29, 2012 Kathy, Thank you so much for getting back to me. I truly appreciate you taking the time out to do so. I'm glad to hear that because you read things online about risks with the sleeve, and I didn't know what to believe. I feel this is what's right for me just don't want any regrets or mistakes. I also want to find a great surgeon as well. Thank you so much again Kathy. I pray that all is going well with your wls & it continues to do so. Bufflehead 6,358 Posted July 29, 2012 Hi Jackie, I am not in NY but if I were, I would at least look into working with this surgeon: http://www.bariatricsurgerynyc.com/ His practice is a Center of Excellence and he is a F.A.C.S., so those are good starting points. He is in Brooklyn. He has a profile page here on this site: http://www.verticalsleevetalk.com/surgeons/858-piotr-gorecki/ If you look on the left you can click "patients" and see his patients who are registered here. You could then see if they are willing to talk with you about their experiences. You can also search surgeons on this site by location using the "Surgeons" tab up towards the top -- at least you can on the web, not sure how it displays on your phone. You might find other, better options that way. Good luck!
Jackie980 0 Posted August 3, 2012 Hi Bufflehead, How are you? Thank you so much for getting back to me I truly appreciate it. I'm sorry for the delay in getting back to you. Thank you for the info, it's funny cause the doctor you recommended is the doctor I'm schedule to see. I go the 25th of August for my first visit. I'm nervous, excited, undecided a bit. But I guess that's to be expected. So if you don't mind me asking what surgery did you do? Well I hope all is continuing to go well with you. Have a great weekend & thanks again. Best regards, Jackie. M Sent from my HTC_Amaze_4G using VST
Bufflehead 6,358 Posted August 3, 2012 Hi Jackie, I haven't had my surgery yet but assuming I get approved, I'm going for a sleeve, probably in late November/early December (I can't take much time off work before then). Good luck in your journey!
theoldmusicbox 399 Posted August 3, 2012 Hey, I started office visits in march of this year, got working with nutritionist in April, I got my sleeve pro refute on June 5 this year. Since April, I have lost 100 pounds and 11 inches of my waist so far. I'm 5'6" and started at 373. I choose the sleeve because I felt it was the best chance to still lead as normal a life afterwards. You don't get the malabsorbtion issues that ru-en-y brings, and the only big benefit that rny had was some longterm studies, a very small % better weight loss, and it helps defeat diabetes better, but, I'm not diabetic, so, i like the sleeve better. I don't think I'd like the band with all the adjustments and honestly, just the though of having that 'nub' in my tummy to stick a needle for adjustments..... Uh-uh. My experience with the sleeve has been amazing. I would do it again in a heartbeat. So, for me, the sleeve made the most sense. Good luck
