I was sleeved on July 20th and am very thankful for it. I just hate how my stomach still feels and looks so bloated. I have only lost 9 lbs. since surgery. I kinda thought it wouldbe more than that since all I am eating is Protein Shakes and eggs ( under 500 calories a day). I have started doing some light walking. I hope this is just me being impatient. Any words of wisdom to make me feel better would be great! I would love to hear your post op stories for the first few weeks.

My stomach was bloated 5 weeks out.

Day of surgery on a Monday I was 229. I came home on Friday, I weighed myself on Saturday morning and I weighed 235~!!! I was measured about 2 weeks before surgery. 2 weeks after surgery my stomach was 2 Inches LARGER!

They cut your entire stomach from one end to the top, it gets cauterized, stapled, glued. The inside of the tummy and the outside of the stomach are swollen. The amount of pulling and tugging and the gas they put inside you is a whole lot.

8 days after surgery I was just switching from Clear liquids to full liquids and I was on Full Liquids for 5 weeks straight. All doctor's are different, but one thing does remain the same, and that's you just had major surgery.

8 - 9 days after surgery what has been reported is that people start getting depressed a bit or "moody." The reality of the surgery and the finality of the surgery sets in and almost everyone has a little tiny bit of buyer's remorse. It's usually due to the anesthesia leaving the system and the hormone changes in your body. This is completely and utterly normal.

Right now, focus on healing. It took over 5 weeks for the swelling in my stomach to go down. I'm 8 weeks on Monday and last week I was pulling tree limbs from my yard, and I pulled my stomach muscles again and I swelled up a little bit, and I threw a stomach brace on. The swelling went down by the next morning.

If it really bothers you, a little ice pack once in a while won't hurt you.

Congrats on your weight loss. It will get better as you heal.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
