I'm 27, but I was 26 when I started all this! Holding on to my 20's for dear life. ;o) I wanted to start actually living my life before I hit the big 3-0! I have my sleep study on Saturday and then 2 more visits with the NUT and they should be able to submit to my insurance! I can't wait!

Hey is anyone here at an out of state college or planning to go to an out of state college ... I'm supposed to be going to school a few weeks after my surgery and I would like to know how that environment affects weight loss or how the diet restrictions affects college life ( and drinking?)

I'm encouraged to not lose any weight; because insurance may deny my claim; if u don't mind those who have to lose weight what insurance do you have?

I don't think that my insurance required that I lose any weight. My surgeon wanted me to lose 10 poounds, it helps to shrink the liver and it makes the surgery easier. I have UHC

I was told no drinking at all for 6 months, and when you can drink again, a glass of wine, or even one shot can make you prettttty drunk.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
