aaron1976 19 Posted July 28, 2012 Hey all. I am 11 days out. All is going well with one exception. I can not sleep to save my life. I feel good, I can get comfortable. I just can't fall asleep. I am wondering if this was a problem with anyone else? I have not taken anything as I am following the post op instructions to a T. Any input or thoughts? Thanks troops! 15Kgold 22 Posted July 28, 2012 I had the same problem. I had shoulder surgery 2 months earlier. I rested most of the day so I felt that was the contributing factor

KikiCC 83 Posted July 28, 2012 Yes, same here at 2 1/2 weeks out. Insomnia is very common after surgery. You can search the forums here. During my first post op visit, my dr said to try over the counter melatonin or Tynelol PM. If that didn't worked, then he was going to prescribe me something. The second week, half of cup of Nyquil would knock me out. I havent tried my Dr's recommendations, as I haven't been able to buy them. As soon as I do, I'll keep you posted. But the good news is that the veterans here say that it will pass too. Congrats on your sleeve.

Thanks troops![/quote'] Congrats on your surgery! I had sleep apnea for the first 2To3 weeks. Now at 6 weeks out I am sleeping like a baby. I didn't opt to take any pills because I avoided pills due to all the Vitamins and med I was taking so I waited it out.

leslierivers 15 Posted July 28, 2012 I could not sleep for the first 2 weeks after surgery. I thought that maybe I was not expending enough energy during the day so I increased my activity and started sleeping better.

Izuri 428 Posted July 30, 2012 I have had trouble sleeping in my bed. I have had to sleep in the recliner or in the other bed, which is one of the sleep numbers that you can sit up a bit. I am used to sleeping on my side, but every time I do it feels like my stomach is hanging or something, even putting a pillow under it doesn't really help. And when I do sleep I can only go about 4-6 hours without waking up with pain. Did your physician okay anything to help sleep? If they say it's fine, maybe you could try some liquid benadryl? I hope you start sleepin soon! 1 danithediva reacted to this
