Help! I Am Very Tired

Recommended Posts

I was sleeved 06/26/2012 and have had no problems, I have kept my Protein intake at the doctors recommendation of 60 and above (most days), i am taking my Multi-Vitamin, sub-lingual B12 and calcium citrate. I have religiously walked 10,000 steps every day since one week post op. The last 2 weeks I was able to walk 12,000 steps, but as of Monday I am extremely tired, (tired enough to not want to get out of bed) i am really struggling with getting 10,000 steps in. I had stopped taking the Unjury protein and was getting most of my protein from eggs, chicken and fish. As of yesterday I started the unjury again and have started to feel slightly better but am not where I would like to be energy wise please advise on what I should do.

I was feeling exhausted all the time as well. My doctor recommended that I take Vitamin D and it has made a world of difference in my energy level!

Looks like your doing everything right. Have you thought about getting a B12 shot? I had one a few weeks ago, and it helped me

alot. I will be going back for another one next week.

My doctor explained that fatigue is very normal. Your body went through a traumatic experience and is healing a large wound (your stomach). He said that it takes every ounce of Protein you consume to heal that wound, which leave you nothing for your energy reserves. He told me to increase my protein even more when I was feeling especially fatigued, and it really helped. Does your doctor check your Vitamin levels at all? I get mine check every 3 months to make sure I am not lacking in any areas. Good luck to you. It sounds like you are doing everything right.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
