Surgery was on 4-10-12.

For the past couple of weeks I have been numb (not completely, but definitely "fuzzy") from my waist to my toes. I made an appointment with my PCP and will see her next Thursday (August 2). It is constant and on both sides of my body. It may not have a thing to do with my VSG surgery, but I'm just trying to connect the dots. I also have a history of lower back pain (severe) that has gotten better since I've lost weight. By better I mean it doesn't hurt as often - it is still just as severe when it does hurt.

Any ideas? I looked it up on Web Md and basically it says I have a tumor. LOL

Don't jump the gun. I have had back problems for over 40 years from a fall at home. I had a lamectomy when I literaly could not walk. My disc above has gone also with a lot of pain that I hope losing weight will help. It could be severe stenosis also. So don't worry about a tumor until you have a diagnosis. Best of luck. :)

I don't have numbness in the same places, but I do get numbness a lot through my arms, shoulder, handsand waist, lower back and butt which is actually just caused by being in the same position all day at work. I go and get massages and chiropractic adjustments once every week or so which causes the numbness to go away. For now it's the only way I've found to alleviate the numbness.

I am hoping yours is just a quick fix like mine. I wouldn't stress about having a tumor but definately a good idea to go and have it checked out.

I too am a lower back issue person and I am currently not taking any pain relief because I can’t take pills and the liquid blows its for toddlers so doesn’t do a thing so not worth taking just for the sake of it!

From time to time my left leg goes numb like in bed not laying on it, it will be numb, sitting in a position for too long both legs will get numb like a nerve trapping or something.

Right at the start my left arm and hand would go numb too not all the time just dead numb pins and needles but that has stopped now.

It goes away so I am not worried oddly before the op my right leg would spaz when the nerve would trap this all seems to be mainly left side now.

I think for me I do less active because I have no pain relief coupled with poor circulation from not doing things is making me numb up from time to time.

It shouldn’t be anything to worry about when I went in for my op when I got on the bed they checked my positioning sitting me up and laying me down to make sure I wasn’t in a position that would effect my back or hurt it and he told me exactly what he was doing and why so hopefully they did that with you too.

Just speak to the doc about it, it could be as simple as not enough Fluid.< /p>

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
