I'm two days out of surgery. Was on Clear Liquids yesterday and today I get to go back to my Protein Shakes. Was curious if I can have Tomato Soup? ?? Doc didn't mention anything about any other liquids besides the Protein shakes.< /p>

When I was at my one week post-op appointment, I got in trouble for having pureed Italian Wedding Soup because of the Pasta in it (my bad). The nurse suggested I eat Tomato Soup.< /p>

I think you should direct this question to your dr. My dr is extremely lenient and said I could eat Soups with Pasta and veggies in it. Other drs only suggest straight clear liquids. I'm 10days post op and can eat regular food. I'm shocked he allowed this but he said since I don't have trouble keeping anything down go for it. Happy dance**!!

That's awesome you can have normal foods already! I cannot wait until I can even eat some fruit! I'm on full liquids right now but the only thing the dr stressed at the hospital were the Protein shakes. I know they are important but mine are nasty so I'm not only going to have only the shakes all day I need a little variety lol.

I am on full liquids and some soft foods, when I need to crunch on something, I've been eating , believe it or not, Gerber Graduates cheese puffs' they are made for toddlers and totally disintegrate in your mouth' also my dr allowed me Ritz crackers with laughing cow cheese! The crackers also turn to mush in your mouth, little things like this mean the most to me! Good luck

That's too funny and a great idea! My kids use to eat the puffs when they were little. I know they are loaded with Vitamins and aren't half bad. I'm going to have to get some thanks for the tip!

Well, my coordinator took a couple of us out for tortilla soup(basicly tomatoe Soup w/a few spices) 2days after surgery. It was considered ok in my 10 day clear liquid phase. So IMO you'd be fine.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
