I was sleeved on 7-24-12 and I'm not using any of the pain meds (or any other meds), just wondering why I can't drive yet. Any suggestions???

My doctor explained that braking a vehicle puts more pressure on your abdomen than you ever realize. And should you ever have to come to a last minute stop and brake hard, it could damage your incisions and/or your staple line. If you think about it, a car is 1-2 tons. Not worth the risk. Plus, it can take a while for the anesthesia to get out of your system. Some people longer than others.

What is someone hits you (or you hit them) and the airbag in the steering wheel goes off? Seems like that could hurt you as well.

It's mainly because of the anesthesia in your system and any pain meds. I think I drove after like a week.

You need time for the anesthesia and if any, morophine, out if your system.
