From what I've read this happens to a lot of people. Just don't be to consumed with the scale and focus on eating the right foods and get all your Water, multi-vit's and Protein in. The water is really important for losing. You can retain Fluid if you skimp on water.. While the scale isn't budging your inches might be. Did you measure before surgery? When this stall does break- and it will, don't forget to keep on with the above. Hang in there!

Me too!!! I had surgery a day before you, and I have been stucked for 6 days at 244. How is that? I am eating 600 cal a day, my body requires a lot more than that to sustain 244. There is a huge calorie deficit, and I only eat Protein. I thought it was simple math. Why?!!!!!!

I'm swiftly approaching my 6 month surgiversary and I'm here to tell you that stalls seem to be the norm. At first, it seemed magical - the scale kept going down, down, down! And then...uggg. So my doc says that this sort of "stepping down" style of weight lose (a pound down, wait a few days/week or so, a half pound down, wait a few days/week or so...you get it) is to be expected. I thought I was stalling, but I think it's just my body's way of losing now as it adjusts to work out schedule/different kinds of calories (carbs, for example), etc. I get stuck at a weight and feak out a little, and then the scale moves ever so slightly. I've learned to relax, not panic, and just keep on the correct path. As long as the scale doesn't go up, I'm OK. So I guess my advice is just to remember that you're going in the right direction (down!) and to have faith.

Though it may be hard to believe, one week isn't really considered a stall. There are posters here that have been at the same weight for a month or more. I will gladly take a week. I've read that its common to stall at 3 & 6 weeks and 3, 6, 9 months about. Your body has to adjust as you lose weight. This early after surgery you'll stall, but it will continue to drop after a while. At 5 weeks I didn't lose, but 6th week I dropped 7lbs. Try upping your calories, Protein or exercise. One or all may help.

Just don't get discouraged and try staying off the scale. The most I will weigh myself is 2x a week; Monday is my official and Thursday is my progress check. If I haven't loss by Thursday I start looking back at myfitnesspal to see what I've done and adjust if necessary.

Good luck to you.

Have you measured yourself? This is a great tool for when the scales do not move. I was lucky to measure myself pre-op and remeasure myself when the scale does not move is invaluable and keeps me sane, I am 31/2 months post op and have lost a total of 43lb -now that is not a lot when compared to some and it gets me down at times. However, I measure bust, hips, waist, left thigh, left upper arm and neck and my inches loss is 30" which I am happy with. I weigh and measure each week and I find that if the scale does not go down then the inches do and vice versa. Give measuring a try it might help you

Ill have to remember to measure my self to see if inches are gone...tomorrow will be 2 week at same weight... so needless to say I'm discouraged but it will drop soon I hope.. thanks everyone

Hang in there! Our bodies are made to wanna stay at a constant weight, so it's probably just rearranging stuff. Maybe you're losing inches? Maybe next week you'll lose more? The important thing is to not give up, your body will get back on track eventually.

I am 7 months out. I have been stalled for 5 weeks. This is my first one so I'm trying to be patient. I have increased my Water (gallon a day) started different exercises and raised my calories since I have been at 650 for 3 months now.

Being so early out my main advise would be liquids!! Water water water!!!!! The more in, the more out. Your body can hold up to 10 pounds of extra water. If you aren't getting enough your body holds on to it. Good luck.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
