Whats Up With All The Crying?

Recommended Posts

I am 19 days out. Woke up today, feeling tired and sad...for no reason. I've cried a few times today for small things. But like SOBBING. What is going on? I am not like that. I don't miss food. Hormones going crazy??!!

I'm the same way - I'd say it is definitely hormones. I read that estrogen is stored in fat, so when you are losing weight, especially as rapidly as we are - the hormones get released - so yeah... hormones going crazy, lol.

Mine are comparable to pregnancy hormones, crying at practically anything... sad, happy, sweet... doesn't matter, lol.

Yes, hormones going crazy!!!! I couldn't understand it either because I would cry and feel sad. But quite a bit of people on this website told me that it's very common with any surgery. Hang in there, it should subside. If it doesn't, make sure you call your doctor.

Oh my gosh I have been in tears today for no reason(well maybe a tiny bit of stress)! I'm only 8 days out but have had a great recovery so far so I don' t know where this is coming from lol. I'm not hungry or craving anything...Weird.:)

Hormones are stored in body fat. As you start burning that fat, those hormones are released. This causes all sorts of emotions and can even lead to depression.

Since I have no actually had surgery yet, I cannot tell you how long this will last, but I do hope things get easier for you soon. I can say that my pre-op diet that I am doing and the little weight loss I have had has come with a few emotions.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
