I bought some Soups from Trader Joes in cartons that were pureed such as black bean, corn chowder, sweet potato bisque. I strained them to make sure but there were no bits & pieces and it actually tasted really good.

I also have some part skim Ricotta with some sugar and cinnamon sprinkled in it. It's like a dessert!!!!

Wouldn't it be possible simply to put the soups in a blender and purred them? Do they still have to be strained after being pureed in the blender?

You guys are allowed to have yogurt and pudding!?!

NO FAIR! I am on liquids right now (1 week post-op), and I can't have those things until the soft foods stage - 3 weeks out.

I'm having a variety consisting of 2 ounces of:

carnation instant Breakfast mixed with silk

whey Protein shakes

water (flavored and unflavored)

chicken, beef, and veggie broth

juice (50/50 with water)

decaf unsweet tea/coffee

sugar-free ice pops

To give the broth flavor, I like to cook it on the stove with carrots, celery, onion, and spices. Then I put it through the strainer to get rid of the veggies pieces. It adds a lot of flavor.

I wish I had more options too, though.

The Soups I bought were already pureed. I always strained everything just in case. These were convenient since they came in a recloseable carton that i poured into a cup to microwave as I needed them. They really tasted great and were inexpensive.

Today was day 1 of liquid diet prior to surgery and I kept forgetting I couldn't pop food in my mouth! I can have pudding but the Protein Shakes made with milk and ice are what fill me up. 9 days to go! The nutritionist I work with said Greek Yogurt, pudding and the cream of wheat were good to satisfy so I have plenty in stock. hot chocolate is also on my list.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
